r Day Dreams and Actualities
, ' - Day,' dreaming is a pleasant relaxation', but it leads'to nothing constructive1 unless the substance
of the dream be" transformed info facts. . The favorite ' pastime of many persons just now is to rebuild the world economically and socially along theoretical lines. Most of this.recon'struction is : dream stuff,, and concocted of the same material out of which air castles are made. Many of those who indulge their fancies in this pastime are sincere, even if they .do not realize that they are chasing rainbows. " The wprld, needs thinkers today, Jas it did in ages past when abuses had to be corrected, corruption exposed, and mankind taught'better ways of living arid acting. But a survey of-history will show, that the men who contributed to the welfare' of mankind were not mere theorists and dreamers, but leaders who could put into practice methods that led upward and forward instead of downward and backward. ; Thousands of men have blown economic and social bubbles. They have tried to help the world, but their impractical, visionary thinking tended to confuse the men and women of their age, and
provided amusement for the children of the next generation.
And so also today the air is filled with all
kinds of bubbles that are pretty, but hollow and
fragile. On paper the theories are beautiful, but
in reality they are filled with principles that must
terminate in destruction. V , ; . "Bolshevism, with its gospel of subsisting on little or no work, of socializing the state without discipline or authority to enforce law and order, of making men equal and theoretically brothers, has a humanitarian appeal.
But the ages have taught us that men must
work, that all of us must sacrifice some independ
ence for the good of others, that laws and sys
terns cannot make brothers of men. and that
only a spiritual recognition of the equality of men will make for a real brotherhood. Conservative and sober thinkers often receive little recognition and their opinions are flouted, spurned and mocked. Mankind is easily led astray on false paths, especially so, if the decoy promises leisure without work, and reward without toil. Men pay attentive heed to the demagogue and spellbinder and hoot down and crucify the saviors. In this era. of reconstruction, of a vast readjustment of conditions hurled topsy-turvy by a world cataclysm, of a re-shaping of mental attitudes, we must cast out the false prophets and abide by the precepts of trusted masters. A bubble blown with ease may sparkle in the sun and be infinitely more beautiful than a brick or a pig of unforged metal; but a bubble's life is a few seconds, its utilitarian advantage nil in
comparison with the usefulness of steel. And so
also with many beautiful theories. They may be spun with dispatch, give pleasure to the author, but they are as empty as bubbles.

Today's Talk By George Matthew Adams
MAKE IT YOUR BUSINESS TO KNOW. It's the things that you know and that you know you know that make you strong and unshakable. Judgment, as a wrapping to decision, forms the greater part of success.. ' : General knowledge, taken up by the car load and carried around, makes a man so cumbersome in his actions that he gets but a small way. But If he has learned to select, to crystalize, to make his own the things that are vital and important, he enters the leader class at once. He knows and he knows why he knows. Make it your business to know. Nothing rattles the rafters of the house of character like the little and big Don't-Knows. Your pride is never lessened by admitting that you do not know everything but it la sorely bent and bruised by not being able to know, at the cross-roads of every day experience, just how to handle the things you do know. The business man makes It his business to know people, as does the publisher, the writer, the entertainer, the statesman. I engaged an office boy many years ago. I like him. I go to him for information and he tella me in yes's or no's. He never 6ays he doesn't know at least he never puts it that way. And I have noticed that when he does not know what I -want to know from him, he find3 out. You never know when you will be wantins: to know something that may
not now seem important to know. So do not shove too much information aside. Stamp it and label it and put it into a handy place. Make it your business to knowt

"Not all the poets," observed a frequenter of cosmopolitan society, "have the gift of uttering quick, light-winged magical nothings in society." "1 knew of - one poet, greatly in
vogue in Paris some years ago, who , was not exactly a fluent disense of epigram. He was invited to the house of a great lady of the Faubourg St. Germain, and as soon as he entered he became the center of a circle of admirers, who waited vainly for eome subtle or poetio conceit. The poet remained silent, ill at ease, red in the face and uneasy of feet. "'Come, my dear poet,' the hostess finally begged, 'say something to us!' "'Have you observed Duchess,' ha faltered, desperately, 'that this . year's pawn tickets are pink?'" "Do you believe in transmigration of souls?" asked the Little Man. "Sure," replied the Big Man. "Why?" "Nothing," answered the Little Man. "But it says here that there

v t Delegates and alternates to the state congressional and Joint senatorial Republican conventions from Wayne county were elected. The Wayne county committee of the Sixlh District Farmers' Short Course agreed to petition Purdue University urging that Richmond be selected as the place holding the 1910 course of Instruction for farmers of the district. Owing to the prevalence of the San Jose scale in the fruit trees of the Bell Nursery east of town, the forestry department issued an order against any of the trees being taken from the place and recommended that the stock on hand be burned.

Mystery Ship" is Planned.
LONDON, March 26. The British Admiralty, after thoroughly examining and sifting the lessons of the war, is evolving a capital ship which will resemble nothing hitherto seen on the high seas, it was announced at a meeting of the Institution of Naval Architects. The plans for the "mystery ship" exist only on paper at present, but it is implied that this craft will be Erltain's answer to the attempts of other nations to gain the mastery of the seas, or at least equal Britain's sea power.

ally conceded by the medical profes
sion. When we realize that it is also
indirectly responsible for liver, kidney and bladder trouble, we appreciate the importance of any agent that will correct its harmful influence. Dreco is proving that it is truly a specific for all cases of stomach trouble. It exercises the greatest restorative effect on the liver and kidneys and rheumatism. That this is the logical effect of Dreco is attested by the testimonials of well known people, who have regained their health by use of this preparation. For instance, Mr. John Rcsey, a well-known machinist employed by the Haynes Auto Co., and lives at 709 South Lafountain street, Kokomo, Ind., says : "For over two years I have been troubled with my stomach, liver and kidneys; I had no appetite and what food I ate did me no good, as it would ferment in my stomach and cause gas to form. I dreaded every meal, as I suffered agony afterwards. I was constipated, had dizzy spells, headaches, palpitation of the heart, and ray liver was torpid ana sluggish, and I had dreadful pains in my kidneys, and could hardly sit down at times. I had tried numbers of medicines, but none of them helped me until I heard of your medicine, Dreco, and that was . the medicine that did the work in my case. I have no more trouble with my stomach, and can eat anything I want without distress. I sleep well at night. My liver and kidneys are working well, and I am glad to state that Dreco has entirely cured me." All good druggists now sell Dreco and it is highly recommended in Richmond by TWsUothwaIteni'drfigw iPelJ Advertisement.
