"This Is to be absolutely a fun meeting;, no business will be allowed to intrude," said the committee Friday. A playlet and several other similar entertainments are planned for the evening. Refreshments will be served. There are" 110 Earlham alumni In Richmond, It is understood. Husbands and wives of alumni have also been Invited, and It Is expected to make the , meeting the most successful of years.
30 Odd Fellows to Attend Carnival in Cincinnati
Approximately - 30 ' members of
Whitewater lodge of Odd Fellows will
leave Saturday afternoon for Cincin
nati, where they will attend the big
degree carnival to be held there Saturday night.
Members of the lodge were planning
to charter a special tram to take
Whitewater lodge and other lodges in towns en route to Cincinnati, but It
was impossible to obtain the train.
Twelve candidates will be given the third degree in Whitewater lodge Fri
day night.
Plans are being made by Oriental
encampment for Initiating 12 candi
dates in the Patriarchal degree at the
Encampment meeting next Tuesday
vening. Invitations , have been re
ceived by the local encampment to
attend the county encampment meet
ing at Hagerstown on April 17. The meeting will be one of the big
gest Odd Fellows meetings held in the county for some time, and a class of 50 candidates will receive the Patriarchal degree. The Metropolitan
degree team, of Indianapolis will con fer the degree.
250 Attend Dedicatory -Services at the Ben Hur Hall ; Chief is Here Approximately 250 members of Richmond tribe of Ben Hur attended the dedicatory services in the new lodge hall in the Htttle block, Thursday evening.' The services were in charge of Dr. Walter Menzell, supreme lec
turer of the order.
The new hall, which was redecorat
ed by the order, is equipped with en
tirely new furniture throughout and will be known as Ben . Hur hall. Dr. D. W. Gerard, supreme chief of the
order, presented the Richmond tribe with the state membership banner,
won last year for the largest member
ship Increase in the state.
Following the dedicatory services,
a supper was served In the lodge dining hall, at which Impromptu addresses were given by Dr. Menzell, Dr. Gerard and P. O. Bowers, state
manager of the lodge. Thirty candidates were initiated into the order and the total membership is now above

third baseman for the Chicago Ameri
cans, was on his way to Chicago today to demand from Charles Comls-
key. owner of the club, a new contract
calling for a pay increase.
Weaver left the club's training camp
at Waco, Tex., yesterday, according to word received at the White Sox
headquarters here. He was quoted as
saying he would insist on a transfer to the New York Americans unless the
White Sox owner granted a substan
tial increase.

A MGUEON BOTH HOUSES, SAYS LABOR ' Opinion condemning Republican and Democratic candidates in the county was expressed by members of the Central Labor council in session Thursday night. Candidates from either party have little or no Interest in labor, said the men, who expressed themselves In favor of a non-partisan party, as advocated by the American Federation of Labor. The committee appointed recently
to interview candidates and secure their stand on matters, relative to the
union men, did not report, saying they
had not completed their investigation.
The stand taken by the A. F. of L.
president, Samuel Gompers, to blacklist only the authors of the bills in congress Injurious to labor, was not
stringent enough, council members
said, and they advocated blacklisting all congressmen who voted for these bills. No definite action was taken.

Sunday school institute to be held Sun
day afternoon and evening in Center-
vllle. President Driver has added a
night Bession, which is unusual. The
meeting in the evening will be held at the Friends' church and addresses will
be given by the Rev. Brown, and E. T Albertson, State Secretary of the Sun
day School Association, from Indian
apolis.
There will also be special music at
both the afternoon and evening meet
ing. All evening services at the other
churches will be dismissed and this
will be a union service.
INDIANA CAPITALIST DIES. INDIANAPOLIS Ind., March 26.
Jay G. Voss, 61 years old, member of
an old Indiana family, capitalist,
traveler and writer, died at his home
Thursday of paralysis.
