Cultivate the habit of bringing all that you do side by side with this light; as a scholar In some school of art will take his feeble copy and hold It by the side of the masterpiece and compare line for line, tint for tint. Sunday, March 21. Topic' EveryDay Courtesies. 1 Pet. 3:8-12. Some Bible Hints. Behind courtesy must He sympathy, brotherly love, compassion,, which courtesy should express in action (v. 8). The Christian's real vocation Is to bless In simple ways, , perhaps. In kindness (. 9). There would be more peace and less strife if all made peace their aim and labored for It (v. 11). Suggestive Thoughts. . Courtesy in the home, thoughtfulness for the welfare and comfort of others, would make life beautiful. Courtesy toward the aged is a duty; respect, not laughter; compassion, not jokes; help, not criticism. Courtesy Is simply thoughtfulness for others; It is negatively, not doing what we know annoys; and positively, doing what we know will be appreciated. A Few Illustrations. A poor man, passing Henry TV. ot France, bowed very low, and the king retimed the bow In the same manner. A courtier expressed his surprise. "Would you have the king exceeded in courtesy by one of his subjects?" said the king. When Carlysle's wife died the old man cried: "Oh. if I could only have five minutes with her to tell her that I loved her through all that." Courtesies tell that we love. Courtesy Is like sunshine; It disturbs nothing but darkness; It brings warmth, light, gladness. When the office boy saw his employer lift his hat to his wife, the office boy said, "You would think thse two were strangers." Why should we not be courteous to those we know best? To Think About. How can we develop courtesy? When are manners merely artificial? What instances of courtesy have you observed? .--.-- A Cluster of Quotations. A man can never be a true gentleman in manner until he is a true gen
tleman at heart. Dickens. ' He that planeth thorns shall not rather roses. Persian Porverb. God takps notice of the least cour-

Between 55 and 60 locomotives are handled at the new Pennsy roundhouse in 24 hours. This number is expected to be increased when the force gets In smooth working order. The new round house Is one of the most modern and best equipped in the country and contains features found In only two others In the country. The huge overhead traveling crane that travels the length of the house as easily as if on a straight line, is one of these features. This crane has a lifting power of 1Q, tons. "When an engine Is run into the roundhouse, a smone-duct is fastened to the swoke-stack and the smoke conducted through an underground way into a tall smokestack in an adjoining building. Two powerful fans furnish power to conduct the smoke to the tall stack. This arrangement makes possible the operation of the overhead crane as little or no pmoke is in the round-house. This arrangement is also found in but two other roundhouses in the country. Richmond is a terminus for five divisions and engines are brought to Richmond for repairs from these, if Richmond is the nearest terminus to the place the break-down occurs. These five divisions are the Grand Rapids & Indiana, Columbus, Richmond, Indianapolis and Cincinnati. Twenty locomotives can be repaired at one .time, as 20 stalls are provided. An engine can run onto the turn-table and be turned to the stall designated. Gus Pfafflln, general foreman of the roundhouse and shops, returned to work Wednesday after an absence because of an illness of his wife. Roy Chiles, clerk on the third trick at the round-house, has been absent for three days because of flu. Three locomotives, Nos. 8522, 7902 and 18371, are in stalls undergoing ex
tensive repairs resulting from bad breakdowns on the road. Work on the new roundhouse offices has not progressed as rapidly as hoped for and the offices may not be ready for occupancy until the middle of next week. The clerical force of tho yards will probably be sadly depleted Thursday, Friday and Saturday of thi3 week, as numerous passes to Indianapolis have been Issued lately. The Follies are the cause for this sudden exodus. Leonard Connerton, formerly of the time-office, has been promoted to the position of clerk to the superintendent, made vacant by Charles Kayser.

Paint Without Oil
Remarkable Discovery That Cuts Down the Cost of Paint SeventyFive Per Cent.
A Free Trial Package Is Mailed to Everyone Who Writes. A. L. Rice, a prominent manufacturer of Adams, N. Y., has discovered a process of making a new kind of paint without the use of oil. He calls it Powdrpaint. It comes in the form of a dry powder and all that is required is cold water to make a paint weather roof, fire rpoof, sanitary and durable for outside or inside painting. It is the cement principle applied to paint. It adheres to any surface, wood, stone or brick, spreads and looks like oil paint and costs about one-fourth as much. Write to Mr. A. L. Rice, Manufacturer, 571 North Street Adams, N. Y., and he will send you a free trial packaf, also color card and full information showing you how you can save a good many dollars. Write today. Cough Remedy
Ton can save about $9, and have a better remedy than the readymade kind. uaUy done.
If you combined the curative properties of every known "ready-made cough remedy, you probably could not get as much real curative power as there is in this simple home-made couch syrup, which is easily prepared in a few minutes. Get from any drujreist 2Vs ounces of Pinex, pour it into a pint bottle and fill the bottle with syrup, using either plain granulated sugar syrup, clarified molasses, honey, or corn syrup, Is desired. The result is a full pint of really better cough syrup than you could buy ready-made for three times the money. Tastes pleasant and never spoils. This Pinex and Syrup preparation gets right at the cause of a cough and gives almost immediate relief. It loosens the phlegm, stops the nasty throat tickle and heals the sore, irritated membranes so gently and easily that it is really astonishing. A day's use will usually overcome the ordinary cough and for bronchitis, croup, hoarseness and bronchial asthma, there is nothing better. Pinex is a most valuable concentrated compound of genuine Norway pine extract, and has been used for generations to break up severe coughs. To avoid disappointment, ask your druggist for "2V2 ounces of Pinex" with full directions, and don't accept anything else. Guaranteed to give absolute satisfaction or monev promptly re funded. The Pinex Co., Ft. Wayne 'nd.
and senior activities were ordered in this week. Other features of the book are being completed rapidly. The Latin club met in the Art gallery Thursday morning. A program, arranged by the program committee, was given.
