TEACHER'S VOTE TO BE MIGHTY FACTOR THINKS WILLIAMS "It Delaware and Washington ratify the Susan B. Anthony amendment to he federal Constitution, -when their legislatures meet next Monday, making the required number necessary for ratification, and If Oorernor Goodrich calls a special session of the legislature to act on the suffrage question of Indiana, the influence of 16,000 women school teachers will be a powerful factor in the election . results," said Charles O. Williams, superintendent of the Wayne county schools, Tuesday, . Mr. Williams was to hare presented the political side of the teachers' question to . the high school teachers, in session Monday night, but was unable to attend. Mr. Williams Is secretary-treasurer of the State Teachers' association, and Is obtaining data for the organization regarding the relief which many teachers want enacted into law. He also is one of the committee of 60 appointed by the Republican state central committee to find out what the school teachers believe should be written into the Republican platform. He is meeting with groups of teachers and officers of the teachers' federation, to gain their opinion. Influence Never Felt. "Teachers of Indiana have never been able to make their influence felt politically," he said. "There are 20,000 teachers in Indiana, but 16,00p of them are women who have, been unable to vote. But this condition will soon disappear and 16,000 votes cast for one party in Indiana, will be a factor to be reckoned with. "If a special session should be called to act on the suffrage measure, the teachers would not only have the rirht in vntn next fall, but also at
the May primaries. "The teachers naturally will support the party whose platform is friendly to their interests and to the school system. Teachers are beginning to inquire of the candidates how they stand toward their profession and the educational work in Indiana."
