WASHINGTON. During the filming of "Pollyanna,"
Mary Pickford's first release for United Artists Corporation, which will be seen at the Washington today and tomorrow, she had as an audience one day on location an entire school.
It happened while scenes were being made at the railroad etatlon in South Pasadena. Pupils at the El Centro School, two blocks away, learned of Little Mary's presence, and there was fruch an exodus toward the station that
U became necessary to close the school.
From the roofs of sheds and houses
and from teegraph poles and station
platforms and other vantage points the boys and girls watched the little star at work. There were two hundred and fifty school children in the audience, In addition to a generous portion of the population of the immediate vicinity: The crowd Anally grew to such proportions that Director Paul Powell ordered the streets roped so the company could work. RICHMOND. Coming to the Richmond Theater every Wednesday and Thursday for the next eight weeks will be one of Chief Flynn's detective stories not a serial, but a complete picture each week. These pictures star Herbert Rawllngson and are now being shown at the Capital Theatre, New York City. Wednesday will be shown the first of these pictures, V)utlaws of the Deep", a thriller at sea life and how a clue is run down and the criminals brought to Justice. In connection will be Bhown Tom Moore, a popular star in "Just For Tonight", one of Mr. Moore's best pictures. MURRAY. "Shod With Fire," a romantic love
song of the platns, opened its engage
ment at the Murray theatre today. This Is an intensely dramatic play,
produced by William Fox, starring
William RusseVJ, and from the pen of
Harold Titus. The story is based on
the absorbing love of a strong man
for a Toman wliO ia snrr-lv In need of
comfort and protection. Handsome,
heroic William Russell portrays superbly the character of a man of the plains who faces danger and death for the woman who ia dearer to him than life, MURRETTE. When Howard Chandler Christy declared that Katherlne MacDonald's title, "the most beautiful woman in pictures," was well earned and accounted for her beauty by saying it represented the glory of a dauntless character, he little knew that Miss MacDonald's next story would enable her to enact a role of this nature. In "The Turning Point." the latest attraction of "the American Beauty" showing last times today at the Murrette Theatre, Miss Mac Donald plays the part of Diana Tennant who greets the news of the loss of a fortune with indifference and becomes a professional society hostess. The events that come within her experience in this work are most unusual and interesting.

"Tailor-Made Man" Clever Comedy and Well Played Harold Vermilye as John Paul Bart, masculine lead of "A Talior-Made Man" did exceptionally clever, well balanced and pleasing work in its presentation at the Murray Theater Monday night. This comedy was by far the -best drama tio effort Richmond has heard in a long time, and is comparable only to "The Country Cousin" Jn which Alexandra Carlisle starred at the Murray last season. Vermilye was supported by a cast which was extraordinarily well chosen.
