Heart and Beauty Problems By Mrs. Elisabeth Thompson ,
Dear Mrs. Thompson: I am a senior in high school and am In love with a boy In my class. He is always gentlemanly to me and I am quite eure he likes me. Yet -when there is a bunch of us together and the other fellows speak of taking us anywhere he always slips away. I have given him many chances to ask for dates, but he won't ask. He isn't shy and he has money. . Do you think he cares for me when he acts so? He walks fcpm school with me. but what can I do to get him to take me places? SUNBEAM The boy may like you, but he does not care for you to any extent or he would want to take you places. There
is nothing you can do except to re main friendly and to accept lncitations from other young men if they Invite you. Dear Mrs. Thompson: I am fortytwo years old and have been married for three years. My husband left me In three months. 1 have found I never loved him, he treated me so mean. I am in love with another man. He says he loves me and brings me presents. I never had anyone so good to me. He is married but has not lived with his wife for nine years and says he never will again, for he wants me. I am worried sometimes, for he tells ' me he is coming and does not. He works hard and says he is working. Ha, has to work part of the time nights. Do you think he means all riqht? I dearly love him and would be heartbroken to give him up. I have never told him I cared for him, although he has tried to get me to tell him that I care. He says he cannot
give me up. WORRIED;
The man Is probably telling the truth when he says he has to work at
respects you have no reason to doubt him. It seems to me that both of you should secure divorces and marry. Time has proven that your former marriages were a failure and after so long a separation from your husband and his wife there is no reason why you should not marry. Be very sure, however, that you know your mind and the character of the man you are marrying. "Single blessedness" is better than an unhappy marriage. Dear Mrs. Thompson: Will you please give your advice. I have been true to a lady over seven years. My
offer has been refused many times in the past. My loyalty is not appreciated.
My patience has worn out. My love has grown cold. Have I done wrong? I gave another lady a chance to be a friend. INDIANA. You admit candidly that your love has grown cold, and that your patience has worn out. I marvel this did not happen several years ago. At any rate you certainly would be a foolish man to prolong a courtship which through seven years has met a barrier. Your selection of a new friend is justifiable.

What's in a Name (Copyright)
JOSEPHINE The origin of Josephine lies in scriptural history. When after long waiting and hoping, a son was born to Rachel, she named him Joseph, the name coming from a word meaning an addition, because she hoped that there would be still another child added to her family. The beautiful character of Joseph assured him iiamesakes beyong number and in 1621, a festival day was fixed by the Pope in honor of St. Joseph, tlie husband of the Blessed Virgin. This spread the use of his name afar. Spain adopted it, calling him Jose Maria, or Pepito for the contraction. In this way, Pepita or Josefa, the feminine form arose. The daughter of Maria Theresa was called Maria Josepha and these names were seldom separated in France, Italy and Germany. The famous Empress Josephine really bore the name of Marie Josepha Rose. Her unfortunate career as the wife of Napoleon made her such a dramatic figure in French history thai. Josephine became tlie favorite name of French damsels, v ho sometimes contracted it to Fifine or Finette. In Switzerland, the name hecame, through some curious contraction, Boppl, and is still used as such among the peasants. Josephine was introducpd into England, straight from France but no effort was made to change it or place the stamp of the A'.glo-Saxon upon it. America, taking it over, straightway contracted it to Josse, but .Tosephineis always given in baptism. Josephina is popular in all Latin countries, except Spain, which reta".s Josefa. Sweden has a musical Josefina. Jet. signifying sorrow, is Josephine's talismanic stone. If worn by her, it will drive away the causes of sorrows, disease and suffering. Thursday is her lucky day and 2 her lucky number. Her flower is the snowdrop of purity, night. If he seems reliable in other

Fascinating Jennie Malone, whose passage from the under to the upper world of New York and whose thrilling and romantic adventures en route are described in Leroy Scott's "A Daughter of Two Worlds", is one of the most striking heroines of all fiction. How the fascinating daughter of Black Jerry Malone, the keeper of a low dance hall in New York, was rescued in the very nick of time from her environment and introduced to exclusive New York society through the influence of a former crook is the thrilling basis of this new story by the author of "Mary Regan". The novel tells mainly of her adventures in the second of the two worlds

where reminders of her past appear and result in many dramatic episodes of gripping intensity, through which her amazing career takes her. LEROY SCOTT, one of the most brilliant of modern novelists, is a native of Fairmount, Ind., but has lived in New York since his graduation from Indiana University more than a score of years ago. He not only made an excellent record as a student in the university, but also a star full back on the Indiana eleven. Among other novels written by Mr. Scott are "The Walking Delegate," "To Him That Hath." "The Shears of Destiny," "Counsel for the Defense" and "Mary Regan."
