TOBACCO PRODUCERS FIGHT LOW PRICES OF MANUFACTURERS
LOUISVILLE, Ky.. March 3. For the first time since the conflict that culminated In the "night rider" era in Kentucky, the tobacco growers and dealers in the state and the big tobacco manufacturers are on the verge of conflict because of the decline in the price of tobacco. The growers and dealers say that
the big manufacturers, refusing to enease in comoetittre bidding, Ttave
forced the prices down to less than the cost of production. -
Tobacco Growers and Dealers pro
tective Association Louisville, which is backed by the Louisville Tobacco
Board of Trade, has appointed com
mittees to go before the Kentucky
legislature and congress with the to
bacco growers' difficulties and has engaged legal aid. In the official appeal to the growers of Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio and Indiana to join the fight the association says t "The tobacco crop In the . Carollnas was normal In size and quality. At opening sales prices were high, but prices continued to advance materially through the season. For Instance, one broker reports that he started buying with a $55 limit on a certain grade but before the season closed he was permitted to pay $1.33 per pound for the same grade, bat obtained little even at that figure. "The hurley tobacco crop, in Kentucky was short. In December the loose leaf market opened and high prices were paid for the better grades. Ever since the opening week prices have steadily declined in the face of a shortage of both qounds and quality. It Is an actual fact that 70 per cent, of the 1919 crop of burley Is being sold for less than the cost of production. "Millions of pounds are selling be; low 4 cents a pound and the actual cost of producing tobacco Is 18 cents a pound. Whole rows of basket tobac
co are being sold on the loose leaf floors for an even lower figure than that which prevailed before the night
riding days. "Tobacco is produced for the benefit of the Trust. It is their positive duty
to pay a fair and living price for the
eame. As they-are delinquent in this
respect and, as competition seems to be a thing of the past, the Tobacco Growers and Dealers association bay determined to request the national and state authorities to investigate the present conditions of affairs and, It necessary, apply the laws both of state and nation. We are informed that two of the Big Four are purchasing tobacco on various markets through the same agency and, if such is the case, the law is being clearly violated and we desire to seek legal redress."
ILLINOIS CONGRESSMEN WILL NOT SUPPORT WOOD WASHINGTON, March 3. The Illinois Republicans in congress Joined in a message to, the Leonard Wood campaign committee of that state, characterizing as "offensive" a telegraphic request from the committee
that they support General Wood for
the presidential nomination, or else
name some ene else in each district
who would do so. The dispatch said
"The delegation as a unit, wishes
to express its firm belief that the state of Illinois is not in any sense of - the word lor Leonard Wood for
president."
NO CLUE OBTAINED IN SPICELAND BANK ROBBERY NEWCASTLE, Ind., March 3. No clew has been obtained to the yeggmen who last Thursday morning obtained $15,000 from the Henry county bank, a private bank at Spiceland, but the large oxygen tank has been identified as the one stolen about 10 days ago from the Albertson machine shop in Knightstown. On the same night the tank was taken from the machine shop, one of the main telephone cables In Knightstown was severed, and it is believed the men planned to rob one of the two banks.

"I am triad to recommend Vola
Tonic to others because It proved to be Just what I needed," said Mrs. Flossie White, 2726 Mead avenue, Cincinnati, O. "All my life I have been troubled with my stomach," Mrs. White continued. "Everything I ate soured on my stomach and caused gas to form. If I ate a little more than usual within twenty minutes I'd be in intense pain and often I couldn't keep food on my stomach at all. I acutally dreaded for meal-time to come because I knew I'd be in misery after eating. Finally, my appetite left me almost entirely and I didn't eat enough to keep a bird alive. "I had spells of dizziness also and
it would seem like everything was whirling around and around. "VolaTonic was recommended so highly that I got a bottle and started taking it. Since then I have taken several bottles of Vola-Tonlc and It has proved to be Just what I needed. "My appetite came back fine after I started taking Vola-Tonic and I am eating real meals now. My stomach is in excellent condition, too, and all the misery I had after meals Is gone. "I'm glad to recommend Vola-Tonic and hope others will try it." Vola-Tonic, "Builder Of Strength," has helped thousands of weakened, run-down men and women and it will do for YOU what it has done for others.
