Council Monday night relieved F. E. 61ick,trah eon tractor, of the trash contract, on suspension of the rules. . The offer of Slick takes effect Immediately, although the contract will not terminate for at least two weeks. Slick will lend the city practically all
of his entire cleaning equipment with ! men, to go over the city and have ltj
in as good a Bnape as u was when ne took the contract. : This will all be done without compensation on Slick's part. Al Schneider, street commissioner, may be placed in charge of the trash when the city takes the contract. It was emphatically stated that no ordinance for daylight saving would be Introduced this spring, at last night's session. Some confusion aa to whom the matter had been referred to at the last session, came up Monday night, city attorney Robbins saying he thought It . had been referred to the ordinance, committee and the ordinance committee saying they understood that he was to frame it. "There Is no use giving it to me to draw up," said Robbins, "because I am against It." Several city officials stated that the daylight saving ordinance would never be introduced. Expert for Light Plant Unanimous approval was given the ordinance appropriating $500 for the services of an expert accountant to go over the books, and the entire booking system of the city light plant for the past five years. It Is understood that the citp officials desire the accountant to prepare a detailed statement for the past five years for submission to the public service commission, in an attempt to get a larger valuation on the city plant At present It has been appraised at $750,000 when it is worth a million dollars With a larger valuation, it Is understood, that a larger depreciation fund will be sought The present 3 per cent depreciation is in book account only, while if a larger one is secured the money will be put aside for the purpose of saving for expenditures, for new machinery for the plant. Council ratified the ordinance on suspension of the rules.

Taggart Doesn't Want to Run for Senator, Bat Won't Disappoint "Boys
WASHINGTON, March 2. Thomas Taggart will not turn down" the boys" if they insist on filing his name in Democratic senatorial primary in Indiana. He much prefers that some other Democrat go after the tosa of James E. Watson, but if an unsolicited renomination comes to him he will not disappoint his friends and party. Since a candidacy for the United States senate involves a strenuous
j campaign, he would be pleased should
a younger man become the nominee, but if his health holds out he will not decline a nomination and will do his best to lead the party to victory in November. "I most certainly am not a candidate for any nomination and those petitions have been circulated without my consent. We have an abundance of senatorial material, and I would be glad to support any of several Indiana Democrats for the nomination," said Mr. aggart, at the Willard hotel. But while Mr. Taggart was talking a message came to him from Indianapolls that it Ib the intention of "the boys" to file a petition Wednesday for his nameto go on the Democratic
primary ballot, and that his name will be the only one considered by Indiana Democrats.
Dr. House Lectures on Memory's Wonderland The First M. E. church was filled Monday night to hear Dr. E. L. House on "The Power of Concentration." He said that we must concentrate to bring ourselves up to the highest efficiency. We are here to demonstrate our abilities. Tuesday afternoon he spoke on "The Wonderland of Memory," and showed that our memory constitutes our ability. We are measured by our memory; we are no greater or no less than our memory. Memory constitutes our identity in the world. Memory can be strengthened through association, repetition and a good knowledge of the facts that we desire to know. Tuesday night comes perhaps the leading lecture of the series: "Jesus Christ, the Conscious Mind of God."

Aire Best Treated Externa

COLDS are simply inflammation or congestion of the mucous membrane, or lining of the respiratory organs air passages and lungs. They should be treated just as surface inflammations, such as burns or bruises, are treated that is, the medication should be applied directly to the inflamed parts. But medication cannot be applied directly to the air passages and lungs except in the form of vapors that can 'be inhaled, and until the discovery of Vick's VapoRub, there was no efficient, economical method of supplying these vapors.
VICK'S VapoRub is the discovery of a North Carolina druggist, L. Richardson, who found a way to combine the standard, time-tested remedies Menthol, Camphor, Turpentine, Eucalyptus, Thyme, Juniper, etc. in salve form, so that when Vicks is applied to the body, these ingredients are vaporized by the body heat. These vapors, inhaled with each breath all night long, carry the medication direct to the affected parts. At the same time.Vicks is absorbed through and stimulates the skin, aiding the vapors inhaled to relieve the congestion.

Spasmodic Croup and Children's Colds Vicks is particularly recommended to mothers with small children. It is externally applied and, therefore, can be used often and freely withperfect safety. Let the children run out-doors, even in Winter, and get their needed fresh air and exercise, and simply apply a little Vicks over the throat and chest at the first sign of a cold, covering with a hot flannel cloth. For spasmodic croup, rub Vicks freely over the throat and chest until the difficult breathing is relieved. One application is commonly sufficient, and an application at bed time usually prevents a night attack.
Deep Chest Colds, Sore Throat, Bronchitis, Coughs For mflammation of the respiratory organs where there is tightness or soreness, Vicks should be rubbed well over the throat and chest until the skin is red; then spread on thickly and covered with hot flannel cloths. The bed clothing should -be arranged in the form of a funnel, so that the vapors .arising may be freely inhaled. In severe cases, hot, wet cloths should first be applied over the throat and chest to open the pores of the skin before applying Vicks. If the cough is annoying, small portions of Vicks, the size of a pea, can be swallowed every few hours.
Head Colds, Asthma, Catarrh, Hay Fever For these troubles, Vicks can be melted in a spoon and the vapors inhaled, or a little applied up the nostrils and snuffed back into the air passages. There is no "cure" for Asthma and Hay Fever Vicks gives temporary relief in some cases.
Used as a Liniment, Salve, Poultice or Piaster In addition to its vaporizing qualities. Vicks has also been found to be an excellent antiinflammatory application. It makes a cooling, soothing dressing tor such troubles as Bites, Burns, Bruises. Cuts, Frost Bite, Headache, Itching. Poison Oak, Soreness, Sprains, Sunburn, etc.
