The Farm and The Farmer BY WILLIAM R. SANBORN
CLAYTON BEARD The daylight saving plan is of no benefit whatever to farmers, and if the city passes the ordinance it will mean that by the time the farmer gets his work done, and to town in the evening the stores will be closed. S. C. ALEXANDER The farmers in the busy season take the afternoon to go to town and find places closed. If they want to hoe and raise potatoes (flood market like last year) let them hoe In the mornings. IRA ADDLE MAN The cry is raised for producers to produce more food. How is he going to do so if the city is going to hold every inducement out to the laborer in the form of shorter hours, and by the day light saving plan, which is absolutely ridiculous from every standpoint; more pay. etc. There is but one time; that is God's time, and when man interferes with the time he is out of his place. More real legislature and less politics is my sentiment. T. J. ADDLEMEN As it applies to the fanner in his busy season the evening is the best time to work, and it would mean a great loss to him. Do not see that it would make any difference to the .farmer for the towns to do it except its Influence on hired hands.
J. B. CARMAN I am sure the plan would not befit the farmer in any way, and I believe that a large per cent of ihe laboring men are opposed to it. I think that congress was level headed when it repealed the law.
G. E. HODGIN I am not in favor of
the day light saving plan. It is an inconvenience to the farmer in many
j ways. If the cities passed an ordin
ance putting such a plan into operation the farmers would have to abide by it to a certain extent. MR. AND MRS. JAMES GOODWIN. We think God's good old fashioned sun time, is right and no one has any right to change it. O. C. HUNT I am not in favor of the daylight saving plan. Instead of saving time, it wastes the best part of the day for the farmer. , W. P. HUNNICUTT I am opposed to any person or thing telling a lie, and that is what the clock does when you turn it up one hour. City people can just as well go to work at five o'clock. It doesn't save one minute of daylight. C. E. HUTSON I do not favor this plan. If I hire a hand from the city by the day his time is one hour ahead of ours and he would have to quit work at 5 o'clock by our time.
NOTED U. S. SCULPTOR DESIGNS STATUE COMMEMORATING FIRST MARNE BATTLE
Frederick MacMonnies, the noted American sculptor, is designing a statue commemorating the first Battle of the Marne, on Sept. 6, 1914, which will be presented by the U. S. to France. The statue is to be nearly as large as the Statue of Liberty, which France presented to America. The public will be . asked, late in March, to contribute to a fund to build this statue.

for the edification and envy of each other, Cornelia alone had no glittering display. But, summoning a eiave, she had her twelve beautiful children brought to her, and, laying her hands on the shoulders of the Gracchi, said proudly: "These are my jewels." The great historians of ancient Rome have carefully recorded the incident, making Cornelia superior to all the noble Roman ladies of her time. Cornelia's popularity as a feminine name throughout Europe is due to the martyred Pope Cornelius whose relics were brought to Compeigne by Charles the Bald. In the Low Countries, Cornelius became Keetje or sometimes Kee. Nelson is a Dutch rendition of Cornelius. But though Cornelia's jewels may have been her children, she had a talismanic stone, the turquoise. It is said to protect its wearer from the danger attendant upon travellers and to bring them good fortune when they see the
new moon reflected on its suriace. ;

CORNELIA Fortunate is she who bears the name of Cornelia, which through the centuries has been symbolic of all that is beautiful and reverent in motherhood. Not only, has Cornelia a heritage worthy of an empress, comingas she does, from the distinguished old Roman gens of Cornelius, but her memory is immortalized by Latin legend, which makes her tha mother of the Gracchi and the heroine of one of
ithe most beautiful tributes to mother
hood. Some etymologists endeavor to trace Cornelia back to the two words cornu belli, meaning 'a war horn', but the consensus of opinion is that she had no existence ;;revious to the first.

How to Keep Baby Smiling and Well See that the daily functions are regular and normal
YOU can t expect the little ones to be happy and play ful when the head feels dull and the stomach bloated. The normal habit of children is to be happy and when you notice them cross and fretful you will usually find constipation is responsible. " Perhaps they have missed that daily function so necessary to comfort and health. Look at the tongue and see if the breath is -bad. Watch for belching. These are the tell-tale symptoms of constipation. Tonight give a little of Dr. Caldwell's Syrup Pepsin, which you can buy at any drug store, and it will act in the morning and the troublesome symptoms promptly disappear. Dr. Caldwell's Syrup Pepsin is a combination of simple laxative herbs with pepsin. Unlike the harsher physics it acts gently and without griping so that while grownups can use it freely it can also be given to a tiny baby with perfect safety. Thousands of American families would not think
of being without a bottle in the house for the emergency arises almost daily when it is needed. In spite of the fact that Dr. Coldwell's Syrup Pepsin is the largest selling liquid laxative in the world, there being over 6 million bottles sold each year, many if ho need its benefits have not yet used it. If you have not, send your name and address for a free trial bottle to Dr. W. B. Caldwell. 511 Washington St., Monticello, Illinois.

All Cincinnati interested in Statement of One of Oldest Residents.
Known for 50 Years as the Best Remedy for Rheumatism , Catarrh and Skin Diseases Scientists have discovered that the
forest and the field, are abundantly supplied with vegetation of various kinds, that furnish the ingredients for making a remedy, for practically
every ill and ailment of mankind. Medicines made from roots, herbs, and barks which Nature has placed at the disposal of man, are better than strong mineral mixtures and concoctions. Mineral medicines work dangerously on the delicate parts of the bowels, by
mating out the lining membrane, producing chronic dyspepsia and often entirely ruining the health. S. S. S. is made entirely of gentleacting, healing, purifying roots, herbs and barks, possessing properties that build up all parts of the system and cleansing the blood of the germs that cause Rheumatism, Catarrh. All Cincinnati was interested recently in the statement about Vola-Tonic given by James Dryer, 93 years old, one of Cincinnati's first residents. Mr. Dryer moved to Cincinnati in 1835 and knew that city as a village of about 2,000. Although he is now 93 years old Mr. Dryer can walk two miles to the Public Library and back home again everyday without resting and he thanks Vola-Tonic for building up his strength. "Unfortunately I had influenza last winter and had not been strong since," Mr. Dryer said. "My vitality was naturally low, due to my age, and the influenza further weakened me. I couldn't sleep well and was very nervous at times. "Vola-Tonic has built up my system all over. This medicine has made me leel years younger and I can walk two miles to the public library and back without resting. "I think Vola-Tonic is excellent for eiderly people and for anybody else who needs more strength." There is wisdom in the words of a 93-year-old man. Long before most of us were here, James Dryer was study
ing conditions and accumulating; knowledge. You can have faith and I confidence in what he says. And he says Vola-Tonic is "excellent for any-1
