FANS' ATTENTION IS ON ANDERSON GAME AT NEWCASTLE-GYM
In Friday night's basketball scraps, - Anderson and Newcastle hold the Ft age. Anderson Is touted as the " likely contender for state honors, and 1 Js Riven a large edge. The Green and White was defeated by a large score at Anderson early in the season. Richmond fans can , pauge the strength of Richmond by the score of this game. Another game of Importance Is the - Fountain City-Eaton scrap at Fountain City. The Ohio team is invading Wayne county to wipe out the defeat . suffered early in the season. Since that game, Eaton has been going at a rapid clip, recently defeating Fair- ' view high, of Dayton. Fountain City has alsb been going at a giddy pace and a battle-royal Is on tap. The Liberty-Rushvllle contest at " Liberty Friday night, will jive dope- "! ters a basis upon which to pick the "'. probable winner of the Rushville tour- ".' ney. Mllroy was touted high early . , , in the season, but has fallen off in " ; recent games. Rushville trimmed 'MilSy early in the season, at Rushville. . ushvllle has the edge. Hagerstown Plays Mooresville. Hagerstown expects little difficulty . !ri annexing the game from Moores- , , Tille, at Hagerstdwn Friday night. Hagerstown defeated Mooresville by r large score early in the season, and is confident of repeating. The Hagerstown and- Mooresville seconds will battle as a curtain raiser. Hagerstown has regained old time form in recent games, the latest accomplishment being the defeat of Cambridge City on the Cambridge City floor, a stunt the strong Rushville team was . unable to accomplish. Hagerstown fans look for their team" to place high in the district meet at Newcastle. A good scrap is forthcoming in Friday's battle between Cambridge City and Knightstown at Cambridge City. A considerable dent was put in Cambride City aspirations last week. Centerville high school basketballrs will run into considerable opposl- ' tfon in the game at Boston Friday night. Centerville would have a large edge were the game to be played on the Centerville or neutral floor, but Boston is a hard team to beat at Boston. However, fans look for Centerville to bring back the "beans."
Haberdashers came back and won the concluding game by 33 pins. High score and high average for the evening were captured by Hugh Smith of the Cokes, with 236 and 218 respectively. He was closely followed by Runge, of the Laddies, who toppled 234 pins for high score, and "hung up" a 208 average. The scores: Wilson Cleaners.

another blow in the solar plexus,
when Pete Lichtenfels' "Mouth Bowler" nosed ' them out of two games, leaving the Laddies to be content with one lone game. The simple fact that the Haberdashers won two out of three games is p.lmost worth of an extra edition of local newspapers, for this happens about as often as we see Halleys' comet, if past performances would be a basis for judgment. However Pete claims that his team is doomed to win and what more dqes a team need than self-confidence, and a "lot of wood ?" It was the second game which the Cokes finished with a broken heart, poor boys lost it by 10 pins, after King, Fosler and Bennett each missed a spare in the tenth frame. Arthur "Loftus" King must have had a big day at the Colonial Barber shop, for he appeared rather tired last evening at least Arthur couldn't collect the wood in his usual style. Hugh Smith gets a unanimous vote
Thursday night's City league bowline was featured by the general "hard luck" of the Coco Cola team. Although .making three better scores than the 'Wilson Cleaners, only one of the three were marked on tho win side of the -Fheet, the 40 pin handicap of the Cleaners wiping out the difference in core. Although he managed to connect with high average of the year, "IS, by sliding over the foul line and losing 20 pins. Hugh Smith was prevented form making nn averase of 227. Lichtenfela Haberdasher five won two games from the lowly Hill Laddie aggregation in the second tilt of the evening. The frist game was captured by a majority of 35 pins but the pecond was dropped by 100 pins. The

of sympathy Had it not been for the eagle eye of the custodian of the fog hivn, Hugh could have knocked oft high average for three games last night. Garnering 236 pins in the first game, he came back strong in the second until the sixth frame when he accidentally slipped over the foul line, losing 20 pins, but still finished with 194. His arm was still in the best of condition for the third game when he plowed Into the wood for 225 pins, for an average of 218, just 1 pin behind Mage Meyers who now heads the list with 219 average for three games. Walt Runge must have communed with the Goddess of Strikes last night. "Doggie" rolled three pretty games for an average of 208, incidentally giving us all a thrill when he made the 6, 7 and 10 pin split. The Fates are pursuing "Smiling Bob" Tomlinson for some unaccountable reason. In the past two or three weeks Bob's ball refused to collect the pins, regardless of where he placed
Did you see old War Horse Harry Smith pull the Haberdashers through the first game with a 228 score? "Snip" Snavely and Big Boy Evans sure helped the Cleaners clean. Both of these pin knights collecting three very consistent games. Jack Scnecipher ran into a flock of splits which knocked the bottom out of hi3 evening entertainment. Howard "Dick" Grottendick. rolling in Waldo Dubbs' place hung up a nice 175 average for the evening, being very instrumental in helping down the Laddies. Frank Fosler and "Big Boy" Evans ill continue their argument at some later date. We wondered last night whether either one understood the English language both held the same opinion but couldn't make each other understand. We have put them on the eligible list now to aid our noble senators In explaining and deciding what action should be taken on the peace treaty. It's too bad they couldn't help with the Cummins bill.

privilege to swing his old war club four or five times in every game and a nice fat pay check every two weeks and the Taroan of baseball will be well satisfied. President Comiekey of the White Sox, who possesses one of the best treak pitchers in Cicotte, recently said when interviewed concerning the proposed ban on freak ball deliveries: "They may legislate against the things a pitcher can do with his hands and feet, but they can't legislate against his thinking. They'll have to take the brains away from some of those boys to stop their success." It begins to look as if Owner James C. Dunn of the Indians has a high appreciation for the players developed on the Cleveland sandlots. Scarcely a week goes by, now that "Sunny Jim" doesn't hook on to another simon-pure or semi-pro as the case might be. The fact that George Uhle was converted from a "big toad In a small puddle" to an equally "big toad in a big puddle" almost overnight, decided Owner Dunn to take a chance on several more amateurs. First he signed George Cykowski, a right-handed pitcher, then Jimmy Kahoun, a southpaw, while the other, day Frank Grabfelder, the hustling shortstop of the 1919 Young's Furniture Class AA team, affixed his signature to a Cleveland contract and will accompany the Indians to the spring training camp at New Orleans. First call for rumors that Walter Johnson's speed has gone. Second call for reports that Frank Baker won't sign. Third and last call for he rookie who is going to replace Ty Cobb. Among the Boston Red Sox, players under contract are Schang, Scott. McInnis, Hooper, Bush and Jones. Seven or eight of the younger players also are under contract for the coming season.
H. S. Team Leaves for , Spiceland to Play Neutral basketball critics probably would consider Friday night's scrap between Richmond and Spiceland, at Spiceland, a toss-up. The teams are evenly matched in weight, both used to playing on a large floor and use the same style of .play. Judging from past records, however, Spiceland should have a walk-away. Spiceland has been in top form all season and the 31 to 9 victory against Richmond came at a time when the local team had had but a week's practice. Richmond has shown improvement in alt contests played this season. Coach Fries probably will shift Wilson from floor guard to forward as a running mate for Reed and place Brown in the guard position. The latter player has only been eligible since the start of the new semester. These players, along with Dolllns, Price, Monger, Loehr and Motleyy, left for Spiceland Friday afternoon. The squad was accompanied by Coach Fries and Manager Vernon. H. S. Compare These Two Wash Ways You will agree that the electric washing machine method is better than the old-time washway. But do you know how much easier the Gainaday will make your work?
The Gainaday Way The Gainaday Electric Washer and Wringer always ready for hard work. Costs but little for power. Handles all the clothes as carefully as you wash laces by hand. Yet it gets out all the dirt. Wrings with electric wringer that swings to any position
The Old-time Way A washwoman from the employment agency usually uncertain and incompetent. Wages going higher. Rubs the clothes in wear-and-tear fashion, tears off buttons watches the clock. Ordinary wringing takes more time. It's back-breaking too.
If you want a simpler, better washday, you can save time, hard work and money with the Gainday. Interesting, instructive folder sent on re
