WASHINGTON.
Critics sometimes contend that
Chotvplays are not always wholesome mental food for juvenile audiences. Mabel Normanrs very latest picture, Jinx," which will be presented at the "Washington Theatre, today and toEaorrow, is a satisfying production rom the parental standpoint, for it is thoroughly clean and bright, and the Sunny situations are devoid of vulgarity masking as comedy. The story situations . are grouped bout a traveling circus and an orphans' home. Although the little waifs of the picture wear simple checked gingham frocks, thick stockings and
shabby buttoned shoes in the orphans'
acrobatic acts we have reviewed in many a day. This act is big-time calibre, and the house fairly rocked with applause. Thomas's colored Revue, comprising nine colored artists in songs and dances, also come In for a major portion of the applause. This act is clean, refined and thoroughly entertaining. Steel and Edson have an enjoyable act of the "nut" specie, and H. B. Warner in "The Gray Wolfs Ghost," completes a thoroughly entertaining program. This bill plays the
remainder of the week.

French Taking U. S. Coal,
Contracted by Men Here; Latter Protest Action Coal operators have refused to ful
fill a contract for coal with a local
company because they can sell their
output at a greater price to French dealers than they can to domestic dealers under the price fixed by the government.
Dealers of Richmond said the government price does no good if it allows foreign countries to outbid the American dealers and prevents them
from bidding against foreign dealers. They 6ay it simply permits foreigners to have American coal for less than they would have to pay if 9mericans also could bid.
