our company does net exclude team work with the army. - The hungry mouth of a tree is planted In the earth which by somo mysterious chemistry feeds and satisfies it. The pledge plants the soul in the Bible that through spiritual chemistry the soul may be fed. Do people recognize Christ in you? That is the severest teat of a person's ilfe, and it is the test the pledge sets up. To Think About. What point in the pledge do you find hardest? What helps you most to keep the plerge? What is the value of a standard like the pledge? A Cluster of Quotations. The pledge requires daily Bible-reading and prayer. This covenant kept makes spiritually-minded young people B, B. Taylor. Hateful . to me as are the gates of hell Is he who, holding one thing In his heart. Utters another. Homer, Behind the pledge there should be
a right motive and that should be to please the Lord Jesus. Without such a motive we shall fail. Anon. It has been thought that the pledge demands a speech in every prayer meeting from every Immature convert, ro at least a well-rounded prayer. Tho society never, contemplated anything of the sort, 'it is expected that each member will confess his Lord In come appropriate way like the repetition of some verse of Scripture or a hymn, a sentence prayer, or a simple testimony. Dr. Francis B, Clark.
Topic for Sunday, February 1: What Does Our Pledge Require? Deut 13:4; John 14:21-26. (Christian Endeavor Day. Consecration Meeting.) Somo Bible Hints. Follow, fear, obey, serve, cleave there you have the program of the pledge in a single verse (v. 4). Love must be behind all our striving for Christ. If we, lovo him, to keep the pledge will be easy. (v. 21). To do what Christ would like to have us do calls for humble study of His will in the Scriptures, and for much prayer, (v. 24). The mission of the Holy Spirit is to teach us the will of Christ; His aid meets our striving, (v. 26). Suggestive Thoughts. The pledge requires thoughtful attention; it is a solemn covenant with God. The pledge requires nothing which Is not the duty of every Christian to do exactly as if It were no pledge. The pledge makes definite our common duties. The pledge is a standard by which
we may test our Interest in divine things and our progress in the divine life. It is our conscience made visible in writing, accusing or praising. - There is a challenge in the pledge: it is a call to show Christ fully, without reservation, to bo "out and out" for Him. A Few Illustrations. An army without discipline, without obedience, is not an army but a mob. The pledge is our soldiery oath to obey our commander, Jesus. The pledge requires denominational loyalty; but it does not exclude interdenominational fellowship. Loyalty to t REFUSAL OF ILL TO YIELD MEANS HOPELESS CASE Fort Wayne Woman Claims Trutona Gives New Strength and Energy. FORT WAYNE, Ind., Jan. 30. "If Trutona won't help you then your case is hopeless," is the remarkable faith Mrs. M. Sarzon who lives on rural route No. 14, Fort Wayne, has in the perfect Tonic, as expressed in a statement made recently by her. "I think my troubles started from constipation," Mrs. Sarzon said. "The failure of my bowels to act regularly caused me to sufTex from biliousness. Then, too, I was bothered so much with gas formation in my stomach after eating. I'd no more than finish eating than I'd begin to swell up with gas and for a while I would be pretty tiick. Then after a certain amount of aisagreeable belching I felt better until I ate again, when I'd have to go " through the same experience all over. I'm getting along in years and aside from my other troubles I know that I needed something to build up my system. "Well, my husband bought me a bottle of Trutona at the People's Drug Store and I began using it according to directions. Trutona started its work by regulating my bowels perfectly and then it wasn't long before the miserable gas formation ceased to occur. Today I have a good appetite, have a good natural taste in my mouth and have come up- out of the former tired, draggy feeling I used to experience. In fact I'm feeling better In every way now. Trutona Is a preparation that should be in everybody's medicine cabinet all the time. If you want a medicine that will go through your whole system and cleanse out all 'the filth and give you new energy and Strength, take Trutona." Trutona is now being introduced ma& explained In Richmond at. Clem , Irhistlcthwaite's Drus Store. Adv.
