i (By Associated Press) ! CHICAGO, Jan. 26. Six men who j tried to reach the steamer Sidney !0. Neff, stack in the ice four miles out In Lake Michigan, were unac
counted for today and the GoodrlcS Transit company's flagship Alabama, carrying a crew of SO, was fast in the ice banks six milese out. For the first time in a week, however, the wind today bad shifted to off shore and it was hoped ice breaking tugs could release the small Neff, with its crew of 8, tomorrow. It was believed the shifting Ice would permit the Alabama to crush her way to port.
Captain O. T.' Olson, skipper of the Neff,' H. C. Anderson, a 'sea " faring friend, and four members of the Neffs crew, Amund Strand, . wheelsman; George Duncan and Paulus ' Hanson, watchmen, and Conrad Carmody, firemen, were the men reported missing early today. The five men from the boat had made their way to the shore, but were returning to the ,Neff as it
was not believed she would be crushed by the ice.
