AMERICAN LEAGUE RECORDS INCOMPLETE

It is too bad the American league pitching averages are not as. complete as the National league's. One of the most important details missing from the American league records is the number of games won and lost by the pitchers. Walter Johnson is the leader, but the fans do not know how many victories he turned in during the season nor how many times he was defeated. Cicotte and Williams were the mainstays of the White Sox staff, but the number of Chicago victories that pair accounted for is not known. Jesse Barnes was the only pitcher in the National league to turn in 25 winning efforts last season. Who in the American league equalled his featT By eliminating the games won and lost columns the American league pitchers, whose contracts carried clauses which provided for a bonus In the event that they won a certain number of games, are left in the dark, unless they were .wise enough to record their victories and defeats in a notebook" as the season went along. Besides rating the pitcher according to the number of earned runs scored against him, the National league averages show how he stands according to the number of games won and lost. The records also Include the number of contests finished by each hurler. All of this interesting dope is missing from the American league figures. Bantamweight Champion Pete Herman wants to turn featherweight and go after Johnny Kilbane's title. Herman believes that Kilbane ia all in and that he could beat him in a twenty-round battle if Kilbane were forced to make 122 pounds ringside. When Kid Williams held the bantam title he got an idea that he could dethrone Kilbane. But in that affair, Williams was the one who had gone back and he proved to be rather easy for the featherweight champion. Williams was a .rusher and in his anxiety to score a knockout within the sixth round IfmIt he left many openings for Kilbane's counters. Herman is a careful boxer of an entirely different type. He might be able to get the verdict over the champion in a New Orleans ring. The Brooklyn club has announced the release of Outfielder Davey Hickman and Lewis Malone to Roger Bresnahan's Toledo club of the American Association. Hickman has been quite a disappointment in Brooklyn. He played, with the Baltimore Feds in 1915 and because of his speed he was called the second Ty Cobb. But he never showed much speed in Brooklyn and has been inclined to take on weight. Bresnahan is trying vallently to OVER-ACIDITY h of the stomach .has upset many a nighf rest If your stomach is acid disturbed, dissolve two or three on the tongue before retiring and enjoy refreshing sleep. latest independent teams to signify willingness to enter the tournament for Independent basketball; teams to be staged in the Coliseum soon. Liberty has made application, as has Eaton and New Madison. The same plan is being worked out In other parts of the state. Indianapolis promoters are trying to arrange a tourney for the champion teams of the state and in this event, the winner of the Richmond tourney will be entered. The entry of RushviUe and Connersville puts a different face upon the dope, as both teams have successfully played some of the . strongest teams In the state. EASY TO DARKEN YOUR GRAY HAIR You Can Bring Baek Color and Lustre - with Sage Tea and Sulphur. - When you darken your hair with Sage Tea and Sulphur, no one can tell, because it's done so naturally, so evenly. Preparing this mixture, though, at home is mussy and troublesome. At little cost yon can buy at any drag store the ready-to-use preparation, improved by the addition of other ingredients, called "Wyeth's Sage and Sulphur Compound." You just dampen a sponge or soft brush with, it and draw this through your hair, taking one small strand at a time,. By morning all gray hair disappears, and after another application or two, your hair becomes beautifully darkened, glossy and luxuriant. Gray, faded hair, though no disgrace, is a sign of old age, and as we all desire a youthful and attractive appearance, get busy at once with Wyeth'a Sage and Sulphur Compound and look yeqt-s younger.
