WASHINGTON. Big things are alway? looked for i.Hrhen tho motion picture fan goes to Bee Douglas falrbanks. Everyone knows . that his productions will bo -nee .. Douglas Fairbanks. Everyone fet.unt; but he exceeded every thing ho ?'ever did in his life in the rattling. , clever comedy "When the Cloud Roll iV By." 'which is the feature at the Washlngton Theatre. All told, this production Is a smashing success. If the production is a sample of what picture stars intend to do when they Droduce independently, then there is , tot a single doubt in our minds that independent productions are what the fans want and what the exhibitor in the futude, will show in his theatres. "When "Doug" first decided to produce Independently, he started off with "'His Majesty, the American," which carried everything before it by storm. That and this performance are demonstrative of tho fact that because of Jiis recently adopted policy of making fewer and bigger production5? each 5ear, tho public will reap the benefit. Allied with Mary Pickford, Charles Chaplin and D. W. Griffith, the United Artists' proposition i3 Reserving of very amusement-lover's heartiest thanks. MURRETTE. "The Beauty Market," declared by eastern critics to bo the most appealing society drama presented within the last few years, will be shown at the Murrette. theatre, commencing today, with Katberine McDonald, the

world s most Deauuiui woman, in tne stellar role. As Amelia Thorndike. Miss MacDonald depicts the role of a girl who braves the ridicule of fashionable society people to pay in full for the

wretchedness shs has caused an admirer. ' ' - " 'ij - . .- MURRAY. Gladys Brockwell, in a story that has a tremendously strong human appeal "Chasing Rainbows" ' will be seen at tho Murrette ' theatre today. This is tho story of a waitress, Sadie, whose heart is well-nigh ' broken by a false lover and. who, to get away from her troubles goes to a town on the edge of Death Valley to work in a railroad restaurant. Sadie does moire good in that town than any minister thao ever came that way, and she does it through love and a spirit that knows no fear. It is a fine emotional role for Miss Brockwell- and according to advance reports, the Fox, star makes the most of it. In the cast arc William scott, Richard Rosson, Harry Dunkinson, Irene Aldwyn, Walter Long and Claire McDowell. The play iz directed by Frank Beal.

City Dealers' Margin on Oysters Under New Fair Profits Limits

Prices of oysters in Richmond will not be changed as a result of the fair margin of profit, announced by Stanley Wyckoff, federal fair price commissioner of Indiana, according to one of the largest wholesale o'6ter dealers of the city. Xiocal retailers are at present charging from 70 to 80 cents a quart, and the wholesale price is $2.25 a gallon. Wholesalers are at present making less than the 12 per cent maximum profit set by the commissioner. Twenty-five per cent margin is allowed retailers. The margins of profit were set at the request of the department of justice, in its fight on the high cost of living. The deartment urges the use of oysters as a means of combatting

high costs. The statement follow.:. "Certain foods having comparatively short seasons are not fully availed of by the people who lose the. opportunity to benefit both by the change of diet they afford and by the economic influence on the market by reason of the relief on constant demand on the all-year-round staples. "OyBters are" such a food. They are a flesh food of exceptional merit and in the winter months when in season should be extensively used. Their ex tensive use is retarded by unwarrantedly high prices at which they are offered to consumers in many inland towns. In the interest of the inland consumer, it is felt that if the fair price commissioners should see that oysters are properly quoted and the attention of the press called to the matter generally a good food would become available to them. "Oysters are sold to dealers 'dry measure,' that is, meats with all the liquid drawn off. They should be so sold to the consumer."
