Rear Admiral Sims submitted a list of 19 officers w.ho served under him abroad to the navy department, recommending all for the distinguished service medal. After the Knight board and Secretary Daniels reviewed the cases 13 of the recommendations were reduced to navy crosses. This action formed the basis for the Sims letter. Following publication of Rear Admiral Sims' statement Secretary Daniels was called upon by the senate naval affairs committee to submit a detailed report on the subject. A large force of clerks is now busy preparing the report. Memory of Deceased Comrades is Honored by Soi Meredith Post Appropriate services wore held by members of the Sol Meredith Post, No. 45, G. A. R., at the post rooms in the courthouse Friday afternoon in commeration of members who died during the past year. The loss of 12 members was mourned by the post, while the Women's Relief Corps paid a fitting tribute to the memory of two deceased. Judge William A. Bond of the circuit court, gave the memorial address at the meeting, in which he touched on the action of the government in deporting the radicals. "I do not know what you think about it, but personallw, I am not in favor of deporting anyone," said the Judge. "If they have violated a law, they should be punished. If they are guilty of murder or of treason, they should be executed. If there is not a sufficient law In this country to abolish traitors one should be enacted at once." a Fighting Parson" to Speak Here Next Tuesday The Rev. W. G. EverSon, a former Richmond man, will deliver a speech on "The Challenge of the Impossible," at the First Baptist church Tuesday night at 7 o'clock, it was announced Saturday. Rev. Everson is known all over the country as the "Fighting Parson," because of his romarkable record In the world war. Having enlisted as a private, he rose to the rank of colonel, and commanded the only American forces in Italy. Previous to his enlistment, he was the successful pastor of an Ohio church. He was a Richmond boy and was employed in a local factory before entering college to prepare for his ministerial career. ' of T. P. A. at Annual Christmas Celebration W. H. Arnett, of Kokomo, state president; C. M. Zinc, of Indianapolis, state secretary, and M. O. Wlsehart, of. Anderson, state director, were the guests of honor at the annual Christmast dance of Post C. of the Travelers' Protective Association, In the Coliseum, Friday evening. A general attendanco of more than three hundred members and friends were present. Dancing started at 9 o'clock with a grand march, led by Mr. and Mrs. Arnett, and continued until 12 o'clock. All the ladles were glvon a Premier rose as a favor. The coliseum was artistically decorated for the occasion. Christmas colors and evergreens were used. At one end of the hall was an illuminated emblem of the organisation In colors. Musio was furnished by Hick's tenpiece orchestra. The orchestra was seated in an upper box which was banked with ferns and flags.
