FARMERS' INSTITUTES ARRANGED FOR PREBLE

EATON. O.. Dec. 22. County Agricultural Agent A. J. 8wlft announces lire . farmers' Institutes for Preble county this winter. All will - receive financial aid from the agricultural department of Ohio State university, which will provide Instructors for the meetings. The first institute will be held at New Paris, January 5 and 6. John Begg, Columbus Grove, O. ; W. H. Pew, Ravena, O., and Mrs. Mary Cartwright, Delaware, O., will be instructors for the meeting. The three instructors will appear at the Becond Institute, to be held at West Manchester, January 7 and 8. The third meeting will be held at Morning Sun, January 9 and 10, with O. C. Housekeeper, Bowling Green, O. ; Perry L. Green, Hiram, O., and Mrs. Lillian C. Orme. Indianapolis, will be. the instructors. The fourth meeting will be held at West Alexandria, January 21 and 22, with W. D. Zinn, Philippi, W. V.; Cary W. Montgomery, state experimental station, Wooster, O., and Mrs. Florence Williaon, home economics department, Ohio State university, Columbus, O., as instructors. The fifth and last meeting will be held at West Elkton,

February 13 and 14', with H. P. Miller, Sunbury, O.; A. P. High, New Washington, O., and Mrs. Lillian C. Orme Indianapolis, as Instructors. It is not known at this time if any independent institutes will be held in the county this season. Divorce Granted. After pending a year or longer In common pleas court, Nora Blackford was granted a divorce from Samuel Blackford of Dayton, last Saturday afternoon. The decree was granted by Judge A. C. Rlslnger upon grounds of extreme cruelty and gross neglect. Their minor son, Claybourn, was given into the custody of the mother, she to educate and care for him. The couple married March 9, 1899, , in Eaton. ' ' " An entry in an alimony feature of the case sets forth that a compromise was effected out of court, the husband agreeing to pay his former wife $1,800 in full settlement of all claims. She releases all present and future claims to property rights, etc. He also releases all rights and claims to her property, etc. Ask Re-Trial. Counsel for Cora Monebrake have filed a motion for re-trial of her $5,000 damage suit against Cora Stamback, which she lost last week in common pleas court. The trial consumed four days' time and a jury reached a ver

dict within 45 minutes declaring Miss Monebrake was not entitled to any damages; The suit .grew out of an automobile' accident ' in which Miss Monebrake alleged she sustained permanent Injuries. ,Jf ' '

INCREASE CAPITAL STOCK. At a meeting of the stock holders of the Webb-Coleman company last week it was. decided to increase the capital stock from $15,000 to $75,000, says an announcement, Monday. POST OFFICE CROWDED. From every window in the postoffice lobby Monday morning there strung a line of people bent , on mailing every conceivable size of parcel and letter. Window clerks . were of , the opinion that the "big rush" is starting earlier than usual, although . the week immediately preceeding. Christmas is known as a big one.

Dismisses Affidavit Against Frank Holland The affidavit of Mrs. Lillian Rusis, filed in city court against Frank Holland, local theatre man, was dismissed Monday on motion of the prosecuting attorney. The affidavit charged Holland with assault and battery. , . '
