Heart and Beauty Problems Br Mn. EUsa.bcth Thompson
Dear Mrs. Thompson: 1 am a man 29 years of age. I hare been keeping steady company for two years with a sweet woman 32 years of age, I loved her dearly and she loved me, too. A few months ago we had a misunderstanding and she told me that Bhe didn't care for me any more and I should not come to her home again. I wrote her a good many letters asking her to forgive me, but she will not answer, or even give me a pleasant look when B pass her on the street. I am a gentleman, dress, very welL and
am considered good-looking. I can't understand why she is so angry at me, for I treated her well and I loved her from the bottom of my heart, and I still love her. I would do anything to gain her love again. I have a chance to go with other women, hut she is the only one I love and I cant forget her. Whta do you think of this girl? . WORRIED AND ANXIOUS. Perhaps If you go with another woman, your sweetheart will feel pangs of jealousy and will again feel her love for you. Do not stay at home and grieve; continue to go places and enjoy yourself with some one else.
You say of yourself, "I am a gentleman, dress very well, and am considered good-looking." You have not mentioned any mental assets. Perhaps the girl believed tjiat you and she could never be happy together because you did not have, the same tastes. If she has definitely given you up
it is for the bcsjt. It is far better to learn now that she does not love you than to discover the truth after mar
riage.
Dear Mrs. Thompson: I note an In
quiry in your, column about Basil
King's book, "The Abolishing of Death," andnote that the writer was afraid a minister would laugh at a question about it. Would you direct your inquirery to an article on this very book in the "Sunday School Times" of November 22, a copy of which is on file at the Public Library. This article is not a harangue, nor does it laugh at the things put forth in Mr King's book, but recognizes sure it will be a help to anyone interested In spiritualism. A CHRISTIAN. Thank you for your suggestion. Doubtless many of my readers will be Interested to read the article.
She Married An Average Man
BY Z08 BUCKLEY
"I don't like to tell you this, Ann." Eric repeated, "but you won't see the truth until It's forced upon you." ' I felt be was going to tell me something unpleasant about my husband and with all my heart I wished he would not. My mind did not revolt mo much against hearing an ugly truth about him as it did againBt Eric feeling it necesary to tell me to gain his own ends. "You can't always know what Is the truth, Eric. And don't you think it is better sometimes not to know it?" "Perhaps, but not in our case. If you knew your husband were disloyal to you would it make no difference? Wouldn't it lead you to to follow the path I have pointed out to you?" "I may be a strange creature, Eric," I answered, "but it often seems to me a husband can wrong his wife much more deeply than by being what the world calls disloyal, unfaithful. I suppose every woman wants to hold supreme place in the heart of the man she marries. Yet I have seen unfaithful men who made their wives happy,
and I have seen husbands who broke no marriage vow, yet tormented their mates with a hundred other vices and injustices. If it were put right up to
me, I am not sure how I should feel.1
"Then I shall put it up to you, and
you can see. Ann, while you were in
Atlantic City I saw your husband
twice once at a restaurant, 'once at
a theater with a woman."
A wave of weariness and disgus swept over me. Oh, the age-olj "tattle!" The eternal, tiresome "titangle" the man, the wife and the "other one." Yet the nausea of" the soul which nearly overwhelmed me did not come, I swear, from jealousy, 'but from the cheapness of Eric's disclosure. Moreover, it did not in the least convince me. "Why don't you speak, Ann? I am distressed at having to tell you this.
but I want you so! I think I have
wanted you every moment of the
seven years since that summer you
were In England."
It rose to my lips to say, "Then why did you not tell me?" But a surprising indifference enfolded me. Eric's
voice was as beautiful as ever, his
manner as tbrillingly devoted. Whatever mad thoughts I may have had respecting him appeared to have vanished. Only a sort of tiredness now remained. "You spoke of liberty once, Eric," I finally answered. "And I agreed with you that the lack of liberty marriage usually means is what makes so many marriages fail. I cannot see why a man and woman, though married should not have the companionship of other persons of opposite sex. If you saw Jim with another woman
It may or may not mean anything disturbing to me. Jim probably has
acquaintances business .friends, or
people he knew in the west whom he has a perfect right to meet." "This was hot a business woman," pursued Eric. VI know her name; she is a Mrs. Frlsbie The name arrested my attention Instantly. She is the woman Jim bought the purse for last' Christmas a year ago the wife of the man who gave him his first job. "You you don't mind?" breathed Eric, watching my face narrowly. "No." I shook my head slowly and smilingly. "Why should I mind; I who am walking here with you?" (To be continued.) Bloomingport.

REQUIRES HEALTH AND STRENGTH
When .was there ever a time when women were doing ro much for mankind and when was the health and strength of our women more vital to the very existence of our country. We can safely say Never. Their sacrifices, their industry, their courage, their . patriotism is beautiful beyond words of description. But what of the poor one who wants to help but cannot because she is oppressed by some feminine disorder. To such we recommend with utmost confidence our successful old remedy and insert following a letter from one who proved its value. Newark, X. J." For about three years I goffered from nervous breakdown and got so weak I oould hardly stand, and had headaches every day. I tried everything I conld think of and u under a physician's car for two years. A girl friend had used Lydia . Pinkham's Vegetable Compound and ah told me about it. From the first day I took it I began to feel better and now I am well aud able to do most soy kind of work. I have been recommending the Compound ever since and give you my permiulon to publish tbia latter." MlM WXO Kellt, 476 Soutb 14th Street, Kewwk, M.J.
The reason this famous root and herb remedy was so successful in M iss Kelly's case was because it went to the root of her trouble, restored her to a normal healthy condition.
