Philadelphia Ledger , "Water ain't a mineral," said Uncle Joe Cannon; and thereby the United States .geographical surrey was deprived of $50,000 appropriation badly wanted for a study of our water resources. The truth Is that water is our principal mineral. Air is a mineral, and so, of course. Is salt. These are the ' three minerals which we take directly , into our bodies. For supplies of other minerals, such as calciunv silica, iron, phosphorus, potash and soda, we depend upon the plants we eat or upon food animals that subsist on plants.
