. - Pampering the Reds Americans are wondering who is responsible for the alleged petting and pampering of the Reds sent to Ellis Island for deportation. In the heart of some one, whose identity has, not yet been disclosed, is a sympathy for the Reds that is misplaced, the result being that hundreds of these men were turned loose in New York. When the police of the metropolis tried to arrest them, they found that they had disappeared mysteriously. Most of us wonder what consideration we owe
these men, who publicly say our government should be destroyed and look forward to the day when they may kill and loot with the abandon
of their associates in dark Russia. The wailing
of Emma Goldman in behalf of a prisoner held for deportation during the war, as expressed in a letter to "My Dear Fred Howe", commissioner at Ellis Island, was too mawkish to awaken more than disgust in our hearts. The inconsistency of the Reds is ludicrous. They do not believe in military service, they .shudder at the thought of being forced to shoot at an enemy; but have no moral compunctions against planting bombs in public meetings, dynamiting homes of public officials, or shooting war veterans from ambush, as in Centralia. Give them the upper hand, and the principles of justice and righteousness will undergo a violent reversal in meaning in a short time. The rights of life and property will be as safe as they are today in the country of Lenine and Trotzky. American officials who shield and pamper the enemies of our country are unwittingly pressing a serpent to their own bosoms. In Russia the theory of socialism, perhaps of anarchy, is receiving a thorough test. Consist
ency suggests that the Reds in America hail with delight an opportunity to be deported to that country, so that they can take active part in the j development of the idea. : Liberty loving patriqtsNrf the past, wearied of the oppression of some European countries,, came to the United States ' to live under the ; beneficent sway of republican principles, 'y By the same token, we believe the Reds and Bolshevists of America should today emigrate j to Russia in large numbers. j Why do they prefer to remain here?' What holds them here if bolshevism is the final and approved principle of government? j In Russia bolshevism has had an opportunity ; for many months to work out its destiny, to dem-' onstrate its efficacy, to give to men equal rights and opportunities. Virtually that whole country has been under the sway of the Reds. Bolshevists in America, if they really believe in heart what, they profess in utteranc, should today by every appeal of consistency be fighting ride by! side with their Russian brothers, instead of re-! maining in a country that is satisfied with its!
government.
The very fact that they remain here is almost conclusive evidence of the insincerity of i their motives They seek changes not to promote the welfare of mankind but to engender
strife and discord, just as an outlaw kills for the sheer pleasure of killing. They stir up trouble not out of sincere motives to better conditions, but because they take pleasure in watching the resulting commotion. The majority of Americans would be delighted over a wholesale exodus of Reds to Russia. We have no objections if they want to help Lenine develop his theories in Russia. Let them demonstrate there that bolshevism is an improved form of goveriiment, and perhaps we may be induced to adopt it here. But until bolshevism can show better fruits of its alleged advantages, America is satisfied, in fact delighted, to
operate under the Constitution into which our forefathers wrote the great principles of democratic . government. We believe Russia is for bolshevists and America for Americans. Let the bolshevists, if there be aught of sincerity in their hearts, depart for the Russian paradise. America has no place for them.
THE GEORGE M ATTH EW ADAMS DAILY T A L K v "KBEP-QOIN'-ON"' FAITH " ; , Most of us have faith. But a lot of it ia thetoave off" kjnd! The real meaning of genuine faith is wrapped up In the act of knowing that you have it every minute thru thick and thin.

And he did! I never get tired of telling of how, when they-came to.Harriman and told him that it was impossible to put a bridge across the Great Salt Lake, he replied: "Alright, go ahead and DO it!" If you have faith enough, all possible things are possible.

"What's in a Name?

(Copyright. 191S. by The Wheeler Syndicate. Inc.) REGINA. . The Queen of Heaven, Maria, has votaries called by the Italians Regina or Relna. Reina was found mors frequently in Florence. . In France, Regina became Relne and Reinette the former also being a favorite in Germany. All, of course, are translated to mean Queen. The natural conclusion would be that the name of Regina is merely the Latin word for . queen given a capitalized initial letter, but another explanation of ita origin, and one most generally accepted, is that it is one of the many involved from the Latin rego, meaning to rule. If such Is the case it has a history as full of adventure as an Arabian Nights and Indeed is an heroic name for a woman to bear. The first Reganar was that hardy soul who, after ravaging France, was put to death in England, whereupon his fearce sons in revenge swept England with ' merciless desastation.
His name therefore became a dread one and in some manner was changed to Rene. At once Renee became popular as a feminine name since the younger daughter of Louis XII. of France bore it. When she married Into the House of Este. her name was changed to Renata. a farm which is very pleasing to the Spanish and Italian. The old Dutch form, Renlra. is quaint and quite pretty. The Teutonic influence makes itself evident in Reigl and Regl. The aquamarine Is Regina's jewel. Much superstition centers about this stone and it has thereapeutlc value, since by Us paling color, it gives evidence of the bodily weakening of its wearer. It is even held that its own color will stain the flesh against which It is worn as indication of some physical derangement. 'Thursday is Regina's fortunate day and 7 her lucky number. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE LIVING DEATH MEANS1
Good Evening BY ROY K. MOULTON
There has been general complaint in the redemption division of the treasury at Washington that paper money, and especially the smaller notes, is wearing out so fast that many additional expert counters are now required. No doubt the public is little surprised at such a complaint, as the cost of living has mounted higher and higher. The mere fact that the worn-out bills are mostly of the smaller denominations simply goes to show that nowadays they are spent, and pass from hand to hand so rapidly that the constant friction soon frays them to tatters. Twenty-five one hundred, and one thousand dollar bills are coming in for redemption very ..slowly,

Think of the food, the watered the air required for two million people if crowded Into one room. It is estimated I that your brain has two million tiny j
cells, each one alive. leading a separate-existence, yet all bound together in one small room. Each one of your twd million brain cells must be fed, watered, ventilated. If you miss one it dies and has to be carried away to the graveyard. If you conduct a bad hotel (that is your stomach, kidneys, lungs, etc., don't work right) your brain cells become puny, weakened and they can't do their work right. Then you get some chronic disease and wonder how you caught it. Put vinegar on your face and go among flies and you have no trouble; chanpe the vinegar to molasses and try it yet it's the same face. Weakened brain cells mean bad nerve force; degenerated nerve force means weak stomach, weak kidneys, weak liver, weak lungs, etc. Deadly microbes lie weak stomachs, kidneys, lungs, etc. They are attracted
by them just like flies are attracted by molasses. They regard strong stomachs, kidneys, lungs, etc., as tough old dishes not fit for their delicate stomr.chs in fact, they would rather die than live on such food: but Just give them a banquet of weak stomachs and they are in their glory; then watch them multipljt and grow maybe a million in a night. How Diseases Start. Most diseases start in the stomach. From there they are apt to find their way to the kidneys liver, bladder and other organs. Disease of the stomach may come on so gradually that the patient is hardly aware of its approach, but in most forms of stomach trouble the nerve force in the great sympathetic nerve lending to the stomach is Impaired. This impairs the nerve force in other nerves of the stomach and generally results in poor circulation of the blood. The stomach loses its vitality and gastric juices are not properly secreted. It. therefore, will be seen that an absolutely sure com
batant for stomach troubles must depend on some remedy that will revitalize the nerve force. Hence Dreco, the wonderful new herbal medicine, gets it's reputation for striking at the very fundamental basis of this disease. It !s useless to give remedies that merely assist in the digestion of the food. If you revitalize the nerve force and create a perfect circulation of the blood you will revitalize the cells and tissues of the stomach, causing a proper secretion of the gastric juices and the disease will quick)? disappear. All the claims for what Dreco has done and will do are based on the best evidence the signed statements of scores of men and women who tell how they have been stored to health and joy of living by its power. Sufferers not only from stomach trouble.
i but also those who have experienced j the miseries of asthma, catarrh, rheu- ! matism, kidney disorders, constipation
and blood ailments have come forward to tell of their experience and deliverance.
