EARLHAM qUHIT CANDIDATES HOLD FIRST SCRIMMAGE
The new corner at Earlham college demonstrated to Coach Mowe at the Initial practice ot the Quaker basketball equad on the Coliseum floor, Wed-
nesday afternoon, that last years all letter quintet will hare a hard Job on hand before the vanity positions" are filled. At the conclusion of an hour spent In rudiments ot the game, a scrimmage between tentative first and second squads was held. Four of last year's team, Pitts, Johnson, Lawle'r and Carey, coupled with Ruff, formed the first stringers.. Edwards, varsity center 2 years ago, held down the plvotial position for the seconds, while Loren Davis, at back-guard and Eugene Raiford at floor .guard, took care of the defensive end. ' Ooar and Robinson were the offensive pair. Although the -regulars came out on top, the seconds showed to great advantage. Goar, forward, particularly pleased Coach Mowe. He was captain and forward on the Tipton high school quintet last year and is looked to give Hall a tussel for the forward Job. The work of Robinson also pleased Mowe bu the lightness of the former R. H. 8. starJs a big handicap. Applications - fromValparaiso and Rore Poly, for the open- dates on the Quaker basketball schedule have been received by Mowe.' Games with these schools will not be scheduled until definite word has been received from Ohio State and Miami Valparaiso also asked for a place on the Earlham football schedule, for 1920. Members of the Earlham football team, and Coaches Mowe and Hlgglns will be entertained at a dinner at Earlham Saturday evening. Following 4he dinner the squad and coaches will take in a show In Richmond.
