roperty man had forgotten to remove :om one of the fake cakes of ice, and 2ves it behind with the nail, negcating the rest of her journey across

ie frozen stream in a pair of black

loomers. Matters aren't improved mch when Teddy, playing the bloodound, trots In and begins to playfully ck Marie's face. Then the whole bow goes bad and ends in a riot of tughter. The comedy is entitled "Uncle Tom

Vithout the Cabin," and it la Mack

ennett's best. It will be shown at the

Vashlngton theatre next Sunday, Mon-

Miss Janis who recently returned

prom overseas where she made herself an important factor in winning

khe war by bombing all the sorrow

rwith her ever famous humor, has

chosen for her entrance to the movies, via Selznlck Pictures, a vehicle that Is bound to place her in the hearts of all lovers of real movies.

In "A Regular Girl," Miss Janls has

full play for all the talents which have endeared her to play -goers the world

mount picture, which is a burlesque travesty on the wild and movie West,

Dorothy Gish, the dainty and attrac

tive star, has scored another decisive

hit, at the Murrette theatre this week. The story provides Miss Gish with many opportunities for effective work

of which she takes due advantage. The support, headed by David Butler,

is quite satisfactory.

bill opening Thursday will be The Sylvester Family consisting of Father, Mother, and three clever children, featuring Baby Kathryn. This act is Eddie Foy's only rival, and is said to be one of the most interesting acts in vaudeville, which consists of singing, dancing and some comedy "stunts" by

the baby member. A tutor is carried for the children, and Frank Watters, the stage manager, has been instructed to arrange a "school room" for the

children as their tutor Instructs them between shows in the theatre. The remaining two acts will be The Spanish Goldlnls and The Three Harmony Girls, which represent an expenditure of $1200.00 for vaudeville alone for the week of November 17th. The picture for the last half will be Bryant Washburn in his latest comedy, "Love Insurance", shown with a Fox Weekly, depicting the world's latest happenings. Magnificient Chrysanthemum Feature Glen Winter Display At the first spiteful wind of winterRichmond pulls in her porch chair?, puts on her winter coat and forgets all about winter opportunities of Glen Park. This annual out-of-season-isolation

has caused Superintendent Hollarn, and Henry J. Fulle, park florist, to start several "indoor" features to tempt the winter-bound visitors. Foremost among these is the display of chrysanthemums, which Fulle has cultivated in the greenhouses. A most gorgeous display is to be seen here. Jaunty yellow ones, chrysanthemums; imperial red and orange

ones; immense white ones, everything

from button sizes to very nearly the

largest cuiuvatea m private green

houses, are growing there, waiting for strollers to come and see them. Guests are always welcome to the green

nouse, where beside the magnificent exhibition of flowers, and an interest

ing collection'.of cuttings started for

spring, some of the animals are kept.

Just now the bald face monkeys are

quite as jovial as when out doors, and perhaps more so for since visitors are

less numerous the appearance of one causes keen excitement. Polly will talk for visitors.

To Fortify the System Against Grip Take LAXATIVE BROMO QUININE

Tablets which destroy germs, act as a Tonic and Laxative, and thus prevent Colds, Grip and Influenza. There is

only one "BROMO QUININE." E. W GROVE'S signature on the box. 30c.

Among the most interesting scenes of the play are those that show some of the inside workings of a metropolitan newspaper, with reporters, editors, printers' devil and all. The love romance of two young writers on this paper one of whom proves to be a fugitive princess in diskuise, is most cleveerly developed and brought to a happy climax.

MURRAY Kiddies from 6 to 60 have a rare treat awaiting them when Hippo and Napoleon, a baby elephant and a fullcrown chimpanzee will be one of the co-headliners at The Murray opening Monday matinee for the first half. These two vaudeville stars do nearly everything their fellow human artists do, and a great many things they are

unable to do. Their trainer has written ahead to Manager Holland that if the weather is not too cold for Napoleon His Monkeyship would be pleased to take an automobile ride around Richmond Monday, at the fame time enjoying the pleasure of smoking a cigarette. This act comes here direct from the Keith big city theaters, breaking their Jump from St. Louis to Keith's Hippodrome Theatre, Cleveland, Ohio. Headline number two. to open Monday also will be The

JT'ht Vassar Girls, an assemblage of iriinlnine talent who sing, dance, play the violin and saxophones, and offer about a3 clever and refined entertainment as is possible to secure. These young ladies are stunning looking, wear gowns of the smartest and latest designs, and from advance reports have an offering decidedly of merit and class. Also appearing with the two headline acts will be Sam J. Harris, singing comedian, and Madaline Traverse in her latest Fox production "Snares Or Paris". Headlining the Violinist Praised by Critics of New York; Will Appear Here The coming to Richmond of the genius of the violin Sascha Jacobsen, on December 2, is one of the most important musical events of the year. The famous violinist will undoubtedly play to a capacity house as the sale of Beats is already very large. The program arranged for this concert is an unusually interesting one, containing as it does, a number o" "Request Numbers." Jacobsen, with , Amparito Farrar vtho will also appear in Richmond, were features of a concert at the New York Hippodrome recently, and th "Musical America," a publication deVoted to musical criticism has the foliving comment on his work: a TmrVi r.nncertct in Ci.
