waw. m vwilj TOOLS, PUT UP AT PARTNERSHIP SALE

By WILLIAM R. SANBORN. The J. C. Showalter and Paul D. Yundt farm sale on Thursday was principally a live 6tock offering. It

was one of these rare sales where j there is no "Junk" on offer. Not an! hoe or rake, nor any harness, and no odds and ends, whatsoever, occupied the time. Nor was any furniture piled out on the lawn, nor any grain or hay sold at the barn, because the Yundt family will need their furniture in their new home, and Mr. Showalter has use for all the corn and other feed on the place. The live stock and implements comprised the entire list of goods put up. The Showalter farm lies a mile west of Greensfork-on the Hagerstown pike. The owner lives at Lynn and the present tennant, Yundt. is soon to remove to the Theodore Davis farm, Just north of Williamsburg. About 100 head of hogs were listed, including a bunch of small fall shoats. Fred C. Roberts, who recently purchased the Knode farm at Hagerstown, was a liberal buyer at this sale, his purchases Including all the 60ws, and a few gilts at from $37 to $40 per head. George H. Miller, living south of Richmond, secured 57 head of shoats, some of the little pigs costing him but $2.50 to $7 each. In the Horse Ring. Seven head of horses were advertised and John Townsend secured first choice at the top of the day, $150. paid for a black 4-year-old mare. Theo. Davis bought a gray gelding and a black mare, both young animals at $175 for the pair. Walter Cloud picked up a nice young mare at $84; James Stevns gat a youthful gelding for $57 and Jim Clement invested $35 in a bay colt. Fred C. Roberta got the weanling mule colt for $51. Forty Shropshire sheep were divided between Guy Wickersham. Ivan Starbuck and Theo Davis. Mr. Wickersham paid 111."; 5 for the ewe lambs, Mr. Starbuck, $7.25 for 5 ewes, and Mr. Davis took the balance of them at $9 each. What the Cattle Brought Three cows sold above $100. and " Theodore Davis was the high bidder at $152. J. D. Gilmer invested $143 in a family Jersey that looked well worth the money, and E. O. Riggle got both cow and calf for $105. Walter Strlckler also fancied Jerseys and paid $76 for his selection, while Dr. Charles Crump took home a Shorthorn milker for $75. Ollie Long was a liberal investor in cattle, among his purchases being a number of heifers and steers ranging at from $50 to $78; five of the steers costing him $357. Among the buyers of cows were: Ross Davenport, one at $S0; another at $61; L. T. Kennett, roan cow, $65; George Burg, roan at $63. and George Cheescman, Shorthorn at $58. Sale Nets $3353. At the close of the sale nearly $4,000 was discovered in the cash drawer, the total being $3,853.65, practically all from live stock, as very few implements were put up. Tom Conniff and Albert Hindman were the men responsible for inducing the guests of the day to part with all this money, and W. O. Seaney, of Fountain City, and William T. Stears, cashier of the bank at Greensfcrk, handled the sales sheets and cash The sale, which was set for 10:30, was over shortly after 3, and, as all agreed, was very satisfactory. The ladie3 of the Christian church at Greensfork were present to feed the hungry, for which they came well

prepared. A list of the members of 1 the Aid present follows: Mrs. Jane J
