INTEREST SPREADS IN DRIVE; MEETING FOR THANKSGIVING
Plans were launched for a community union Thanksgiving service in Richmond, either in the morning or afternoon, on Thursday. November 27, by the county evangelistic committee, in session at the Y. M. C. A. Wednesday afternoon. Probably every church -will also hold individual services. Several other union services also will bo held in the county at large. A county-wide young people's rally will be held next Sunday afternoon at 2:30, in the United Brethren church, when J. V. Stewart, of New Castle, will speak. Good reports are coming from all the county meetings. This week, services are being held in the Methodist church at Milton, the Rev. F. C McCormick preaching; next week services are to be held in the First Christian church of which the Rev. McCormick is pastor. United at Cambridge City. R. M. Rowe, of Cambridge City, reports that the Presbyterians, Baptists and Christians are uniting in union

The Methodists are holding independent services under the direction of the Rev. F. A. Hogan, the pastor, and his brother, the Rev. Hogan, of Knightstown. Dr. Somruervine Light will speak at Grace Methodist church Thursday night. Friday fast day will be observed. Services will begin at 10 o'clock in the morning and will last all day. Last night Mrs. H. M. Ross conducted the services before a large congregation. Sunday evening services at the Allen Jay Memorial church will be suspended and special evangelistic services held at 7:30 o'clock, the Rev. Charles N. Woodman, pastor, has announced. As announced Wednesday, the Rev. L. E. Murray will hold an evangelistic service at the Christian church Thursday, in place of the regular prayer meeting.using as his subject, "A Midnight Prayer Meeting." In connection wiUi the regular evangelistic services at the first Methodist church, the "Win-My-Chum Week," nationally observed in Methodist churches, is being given special attention for 15, minutes each evening. Wednesday evening Mrs. Winder spoke on "Christ in the Home of Martha." Music was furnished by the McPherson sisters. Thursday night the meeting will be in charge of Miss Alice Phillips. Music will be furnished by Miss Madelon Beckett and Miss Lillian Genn. Miss Mildred Dilks will lead the meeting Friday night. The Sunday-school orchestra and Miss Ruth Bishop will furnish the music. The young people are invited and urged to attend these meetings. The Rev. R. L. Semans, pastor, will preach on "The Call of Christ." Thursday night. Clarence Stephen will sing. Finefrock: Gives Talk. The Rev. J. C. Finefrock, missionary on furlough here after 7 years in India, spoke on general conditions in that country at the evangelistic services of the First English Lutheran church Wednesday night. "The comradeship and association the young Indian soldiers had with the armies in the trenches during the war, will do much to break down the caste system of India," said Finefrock. He also stated that while the allies lost millions of men in the war. India gauged her losses above 33,000,000. "Two hundred million people go to bed without their hunger satisfied every night in India," 6aid he.
Tonight the pastor, the Rev. F. A. Dressel, will, speak on "The Reward to the Church of Pergomas." J. G. C. Webster, of College Corner, spoke on "Forgiveness of Sin.' at the Reid Memorial church services Wednesday night. He will speak again Thursday night to the entire congregation, making a special appeal to the men of the church. Special music will be a feature. Prayer meetings for Friday on the West sido have been announced as follows: At the home of . Mrs. A. G. Parker, 228 Randolph street, leader, Mrs. Frank Clevenger; at the home of Mrs. C. E. Ballinger, 220 Lincoln street, leader, Mrs. J. Holaday. "For Love's Sake." "For Love's Sake" was the subject of the sermon delivered by the Rev. C. Raymond Isley, of the Second English Lutheran church, Wednesday night. In which he pointed out that a Christian lifo should be lived on a higher plane than "just for duty's sake, but for love's sake." Special evangelistic services will be held again Thursday night when the pastor will preach on "The Test of a Christian Life. There will bo special music by Miss Edna Sittloh. Mr. Jacqueraan, "Devil Jack." reformed man of sin, will speak at the United Brethren church Thursday
night, on "From the Bottom to the Top, or What Christ Will Do For a Man." There will be special music. "The Foolish Man" is the subject of the sermon which the Rev. E. L. Gates, pastor of ttte Third Methodist church of Fairview will deliver Thursday night. Special music is also on the program. Wednesday night 9 conversions were made, making the total for the campaign in this church 51, "The Great Reconciliation" was the subject of the Rev. E. Howard Brown's sermon at the East Main Street Friends church Wednesday night. A sermon by the pastor and special music will be given again Thursday night. Thirty-four persons have been converted during the meetings at the Church of the Nazarene, which are being conducted by George and Effie Moore A large crowd attended the services Wednesday evening and one
woman was converted. Rev. and Mrs. John Williams, of Williamsburg, assisted in the meeting. Plans are being made for a big rally meeting Sunday.
