Jay-Walking, Passing , Street Cars, City's Worst Offences Against Safety Under the watchful eye of the traffic guardian at Eighth and Main fctreets, Richmond motorists and walkers are models at obeying traffic rules but after getting out of range of Harry Fee, they pay little or no regard to the rules. Diagonally crossing the streets is the most dangerous infringment on tho laws by the pedestrians, although many boys will deliberately slow up while walking across the streets and almost stop to keep from running down the provokers. This is a dangerous habit on part of tho juveniles and is
in direct oppo. campaign.
The violation
motorists are fur more numerous
than those of the pedestrians but the passing of a street car while the latter is discharging passengers, is perhaps the most dangerous. Making round corners instead of the required square turns is the most numerous violation which occurs most. Glaring headlights, disregard of safety zones, leaving automobiles vacant with motors running and most of all, speeding demon possessed by Richmond drivers, are other violations of the law of safety first and the traffic rules of Richmond.

woods, manager of the Arlington ho
tel said Tuesday morning, in discussing England as she found it upon her recent visit there with her relatives. Miss Woods left 6 months ago for England to pay a visit to her mother, brothers and sisters. She is the first Richmond woman to make the trip to England and back since the war. Miss Woods explained that while she had a very delightful time with her people, she found conditions very disheartening; particularly are many people still suffering from the effect of air raids. "I can't begin to tell you how many times a day my mother would allude to them" she said. "It seems simply impossible for them to forget the horror of those terrible months. It was not fear, I think, but rather the terrible strain. Imagine getting up in the night, dressing and going out in the bitter cold to sit for hours and hours in the tube stations. There was no heat in those stations. In the country, they often had no underground refuge, but they couldn't
stay in the houses
voua strain of sitting in the darkness expecting to be blown to pieces, was too much to endure, so the people would go out and wlk in the country." Operated in House. "One of my sisters had an operation. There were no hospitals; they simply bad to clear a place in the drawing room and put an operation up there. As soon as the operation was over the doctor and nurse had to leave and go to the next case. Three nights later, my sister had to get up and walk In the countryside!" "The food Is still horrible," said Miss Wood. "Much of it is simply trash. My brother-in-law is a milling expert and he told us of some of the things which have gone with the wheat they call it corn In making bread. Even yet I can not eat their
bacon. They did have good ham, how
ever. I asked the dealer where it came from, he said: 'Indinapolis, U. S.' You can imagine my delight. To him Indianapolis was anywhere over here of course but to me it was pretty near home. "Eggs were selling at 12 cents a piece when I left England. That just about means 24 cents a piece for America." Miss Wood described the food lines during the war as the worse thing n , .r t tr iYta oft volrlta
One or my sisters spent practically
this store and that, trying to get enough food for the family. Imagine taking' two ounces of bacon home to a family of 8 or 9 people. My sister said they would be out and standing in line, often in the bitter cold, long before even business men in America are hustling down town. One partic
ular afternoon she waited In line from 1 o'clock to 20 minutes after 5 only: to find all the food gone when she got in the shop. Also Have Coal Strike. "I found more and more on this visit how easy going the British are. After 15 years in America I could not control myself when the coal strikes came. I was greatly excited and talked about conditions a great deal; the average answer I received was: "Oh things will get all right after bit,' but that was too much. I couldn't stand all their stolidity this time. "While you are actually on the scene you do not realize the severity of the conditions much more than you do over here. We do not have coal here in Richmond VxSay to last you very long, over there they were also greatly stinted of course. I had never before realized of wht great value coal is," said Miss Wcods. She ex
plained the utter standstill, the lack of coal altogether, had brought some towns in England to. "I went into a usually hustling little town near my home while the coal strike was on. The street cars were
not running; no coal. There were no electric lights; no gas; nobody going down the street) to business; nothing was running. I went away with a much more serious respect for coal!"

Sure Way To Get Rid Of Dandruff
There is one sure way that never fails to remove dandruff completely and that is to dissolve it. This destroys It entirely. To do this. Just get about four ounces of plain, ordinary liquid arvon; apply it at night when retiring: use enough to moisten the scalp and rub it in gently with the finger tips. By morning, most if not all. of your dandruff will be gone, and three or four more applications will completely dissolve and entirely destroy evry single sign and trace of it. no matter bo-v much dandruff you may have. You will find, too, that all itching and digging of the scalp will stop instantly, and your hair will be fluffy, lustrous, glossy, silky and soft, and look and feel a hundred times better. You can get liquid arvon at any drug store. It is inexpensive, and four ounces is all you will need. Th'.s simple remedy has never been known to fail. Adv.

garding his experience with the "Master Medicine," Tanlac: "My stomach had troubled me for so long, and I had spent so much money for treatment and medicines without results that I never expected to get well. So Tanlac has surprised me for I am practically a well man already and am feeling better than I have in years. "Ten years ago, when I first began to have slight attacks of indigestion, I paid no attention to it, but,. oh, how I wished a thousand times I had, for since that time I have just suffered agnoy. I finally got to where I couldn't eat a meal without vomiting and I would bloat up with gas until I was in so much pain and misery I could
hardly stand it. If I ventured to eat) anything the Uast bit heavy I would: almost double up with pains in the pit cf my stomach and there was a ! spot in my right side that hurt me i so I couldn't bear to touch it. I "A lady persuaded me to try Tanlac, j
saying tne medicine had relieved her of a case of stomach trouble after she had suffered for years, so I concluded to see what it would do for me. But before I began on Tanlac I had an X-ray examination of my stomach and was told I would have to undergo an operation if 1 expected to get well I was afraid of an operation and, not only that, I have been in the hospital five times during the past ten years
and was tired of it. So I got me some j Tanlac and if that had failed me an i
operation would no doubt have been my next resort. But. Tanlac hasn't failed me. On the other hand it is gradually making a new man of me. I am eating just anything I want now and it has been weeks since I had a vomiting spell or felt a sign of indi
gestion sifter onMnsr. That hnrtinp-i
has left my side entirely and eat; why, I have an appetite like a wolf and have gained several pounds in weight. I have gained in strength' until I can work right along with the best on the job. That breaking out has all disappeared, my nerves are steady as a rock, and I sleep every night like a log. My cough is gone, too, and 1 have improved so much that I have stopped worrying over the thoughts of an operation. I can hardly find words to express my thankfulness for the way Tanlac has brought me out and I know a dozen or more fellows in South Bend who have commenced taking Tanlac since I began showing such a wonderful improvement." Tanlac is sold in Richmond by Clem Thistlethwaite; in Greensfork by C. D. Sornine; in Cambridge City by Mr. Dean House; in Pershing by Sourbeer & Rodenberg; in Centerville by Centerville Pharmacy, and in Milton by W. L. Parkins. Adv.
