Bugles Herald Collectors of Waste for Day Nursery A detachment of auto trucks is advancing through Richmond They form part of an ormy that is warring on America's internal enemy waste. Preceded by collectors who visit every house, and heralded by lusty-toned buglers, they are gathering up the bags filled with waste material that are to be sold in bulk for the benefit of the Day Nursery. From 8 a. m. until the middle of the afternoon the trucks were to be abroad. They were to travel systematically from door to door through the various neighborhoods until the entire city has been covered once But they were to visit each home only once. For this reason housewives are urged to leave their bags with a neighbor whenever they leave the house alone during these hours of the day. All details of the campaign were carefully planned and everything has advanced smoothly so far. Several thousand sanitary bags were distributed, and it is believed that every household in the city has received one. An active interest and spirit of co-cp-eration is reported by those who distributed the bags. It is anticipated that the returns from the sale of the waste will prove the public's support of the campaign of triple merit. Bags filled to the brim and heaped-up truck loads will mean, first, much needed funds for the treasury of the Day Nursery of Richmond; secondly, the fire menace in this city greatly lessened, and thirdly, material that would otherwise have gone to waste saved for use in the manufacture of necessities.
