DEBATE ON AUTO LAW ENFORCEMENT ENLIVENS COUNCIL After a very quiet session, debate finally drifted around to the automobile ordinance, at council meeting Monday night. It was a case of Mayor Zimmerman versus Council. Councilman Ford opened the debate by praising the work of the police department in arresting drivers without tall lights. The mayor thanked him. But Mr. Ford continued: FV'There should be an ordinance
1 N?oirfpelling motorists who approach V North and South A streets to come to
a dead stop. This would lessen the Great number of accidents." "Personally 1 would be opposed to that," said the mayor. "It takes too much gasoline and too much time to stop. I am a physician, and there are others in town, we could not take that time on a hurry-up call." Prior to the debate Councilman Von Teln, chairman of the ordinance committee, announced that the committee had had an ordinance dealing with the right of way under consideration for some time, but that the city attorney had not found time to frame the ordinance for presentation. It "would be ready by the next meeting, 3ie said. Robbins Reports on Meet Byram Bobbins, city attorney, gave e brief outline of the water works Learing last Friday. Default by the Morton Lake and Park company to pay its sewer assessment was reported by the city treasurer. The amount, which is approximately $2,700, has been asked by the treasurer several times, he stated, but the company did not recognize his demands. The matter was turned over to the city treasurer and the city attorney. City Engineer Del Davis said the street department would use one of the city sweepers to take up all the leaves after they had all fallen off of the trees. The city is in good shape as far as the coal situation is concerned, memers of the administration said.

Another equally fact that, because no

The spirit of New York life is embodied in the works of the late Clyde Fitch, American dramatist, whose plays scored bigger successes, perhaps, than those of any other of his contemporaries. "Girls," one of his most successful comedies, produced by Paramount with charming little Marguerite Clark in the starring role, has scored a decided success at the Murrette theatre this week. Harrison Ford is the leading man. CATARRH DOES HARM Whether It Is of the Nose, Throat, or Other Organs, Get Rid of It.
