COUNTY, CITY, WELL SUPPLIED . WITH GOAL: STRIKE NOT FEARED

Enough coal, both hard and soft varieties, to 6upply an average late fall demand for SO to 60 days, Is available, say Richmond and Wayne county dealers. If the threatened strike of coal miners in Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania goes into effect on November 1, Richmond will be fairly well supplied. Richmond people, remembering the mild weather of last winter, were Indifferent during the summer and as a result winter stocks of coal were not laid in. Dealers are taking step3 to meet this situation. Richmond manufacturing plants have an ample stock of coal on hand, as the purchasing agents order the winter supply of coal in the summer. Two years ago, one of the largest factories in town had a large enough stock to aid the needs of its employes. J. P. Dillon, of the city light plant, reports a stock of fifteen carloads of coal on hand and about 200 ordered from the Kentucky coal fields. It is thought that the Kentucky mines will not strike. O. D. ports enough coal on hand to supply wants of its customers for about 2 weeks following the ceasing of coal shipments. Hackman, Klehfoth Co. hae a stock of oer 3,000 tons. This amount includes both hard and 6oft coal. The present supply of the company is considerably larger than the supply on hand a year ago. It is estimated that the demands of their customers will be supplied for about 2 months. About the largest supply in the city is contained in the yards of Mather Brothers. About 800 tons of soft coal, 2,000 tons of Pocahontas and 1,00 Otons of steam coal are included. Soft coal to the amount of 2,000 tons is reported by the J. H.Mcnke company. This is the largest amount of soft coal possessed by any local dealer. Wayne county, as a while, Is -well supplied, according to John Powell, of Fountain City, who has a good sized supply on hand and the neighborhood surrounding Fountain City has it winter coal stock laid in. ers, Hagerstown could be supplied by them for oer 30 days following the end of coal shipments. The neighborhood surrounding Hagerstown has a sufficient stock. Cambridge City is optimistic in regards to the coal situation. People liing in and near Cambridge heeded the goernment warnings and laid in the winter stock of coal early in the summer.
