STATE MEETING OF FARMERS PROMISES GENERAL AWAKENING
INDIANAPOLIS. Oct 13. With the first annual state convention of the Indiana Federation of Farmers' associations ecbeduled to be held In Indianapolis on November 18, it-ports reaching headquarters tn this city are to the effect that there has been a
general awakening among the Hoosier
tillers of the soil from the Ohio river
to the Michigan line, and from Ohio
to Illinois, to the need of a strong organization to fight for their rights. With every other line of business represented through a state organi
zation, the farmers have felt the need
of closer co-operation during the per
iod of reconstruction, and are on the
verge of realizing that ambition. During the last -week two more counties were added to the Est of those which have been fully organized and affiliated with the parent body. The two new members are the farmers' organizations in Union and Johnson counties, making the federation's enrollment made up of fifty-six counties. Of the remaining thirty six counties organization work has begun in at -least twenty of these, and the indications are that official delegates will fbe present from sixty-five counties at the November session. In order to have a voting delegate at the state convention the county must be affiliated with the federation. The work of tabulating the results of the $200,000 guaranty fund which has been under way this fall has been somewhat hampered as a result of a number of townships. Quite a few of the counties have reported that they were successful in raising their quotas and it is only a matter of checking up the respective townships to see how much they oversubscribed. Delay in these reports has made it impossible for the officers to announce which county is to be awarded the prize for oversubscribing its quota. A prize is to be awarded the township making the greatest gain over its quota, and an individual gold emblem of honor to "the member making the largest subscription. The five points set out. for the use of this great reserve fund to benefit Indiana farmers are as follows: to provide- operating an dorganizing expenses; to have expert representatives at the stockyards to assist the farmers; to have an expert of great legal ability to find out and correct wrongs to the producers and possibly later to preparte the way for a great agriculture center to belong to the farmers, where all the farmers of Indiana can meet and cultivate good fellowship and co-operate for the common good.

MORE MOTORISTS ARRESTED. Earl Conway was fined $1 and costs on charges of driving without lights, by Mayor Zimmerman in police court Monday. Ed Parker, arrested on the same charge, was notified to appear before the court Tuesday.
Deutschland Commander Tells of His Escape From British Warships BERLIN Though allied warships lingered outside Norfolk, Va., and fishing boats with nets sought to entangle him, Captain Paul Konig, master of the U-boat Deutschland, made
his escape safely on his first journey to America. He recently wrote an account of the outward voyage in the Bremen Nachrichten. "About two to three days after our arrival in Baltimore (August, 1916, j came news that three cruisers were ' plying at the entrance to Chesapeake ; bay," he wrote. "A few days later we had Information that two English and j
two French cruisers were operating nt the entrance in the day time, but withdrew further out at night. These cruisers apparently knew the path we took in and were anxious to catch us on the outward Journey.
"We learned, too, that some fish- j ing boats that ordinarily did not re- j main in the channel had stopped there j and put out a very long net, hoping) to entangle our gears therein. I ascer-i tained too, that a firm in Boston had supplied a dozen microphones to Eng-j lish account. What a triumph it! would have been for the English if I they could have captured us." 1 Konig declared that be was a bit skeptical about American neutrality: and fearful lest the Americans should not prevent the British from coming, within the three-mile limit. On August 1, the Deutschland took Its departure. Konig said that he had hoped to avoid press boats, but hadj not been able to do so. However, he: rejoiced at night came on and he lost, j his press pursuers. But when he j reached Newport News he was hail6d by a press boat. That night he made for the threemile limit, submerging and emerging several times. He spied fishing boats in the distance and altered his course. Also an American destroyer passed overhead. Having taken a new course when he spied the fishing boats, he turned on his electrical engines, and when he ascertained that there were : no sounaci of enemy craft he headed out to sea at some distance from where the fishing boats were stationed. "In the little messroom of the Deutschland I drank a bottle of wine with the officers and engineers which had been given us by German-Ameri-enn friends," he concluded. "We drank to a safe journey. Twenty-two (.ays later we came into the port of Bremen safely."

Your doctor will tell you ninety per cent of all sickness comes from inactive bowels and liver. Dr. Edwards, a well-known physician in Ohio, perfected a vegetable compound mixed with olive oil to act on the liver and bowels, which he gave to his patients for years. Dr. Edward's Olive Tablets, the substitute for calomel .are gentle in their action yet always effective. They bring about the natural buoyancy which all Bhould enjoy by toning up the liver and clearing the system of impurities. Dr. Elwards' Olive Tablets are known by their olive color. 10c and 25c Adv.

Moore's Three -Way Heater Moore's Three-Way Heater means perfection In burning and heating with soft coal.
The First of the Ways is Floor Heating. The Second is heating by radiation and circulation. The Third is upstairs heating by double heating attachment. All of which means the proper soft coal heating stove to heat the house. A straight draft stove cannot be a fire and heat keeper until it is perfectly mounted and fitted. The fire pot angle reflects heat to the floor. The casing creates circulation above the fire pot absorbs the body heat that would reflect into your face, multiplies it by many times by keeping it in motion and sends it out into all parts of the rooms. Also sends it to rooms overhead, if you connect the pire to utilize the double heater. Ask to see the Three-Way Heater.
Be Prepared Buy That Furnace Stove NOW! If you want the heat from your coal to go into every corner in your home just as it does when burning a furnace then buy this Furnace Stove. It's built just like a furnace and gives you the most heat out of any kind of coal. Everybody is praising this stove it's a big value and the best bargain in this city in a high grade stove; our price for this Furnace Stove only S3G.00
