VATICAN SINGERS WENT THROUGH WAR IN ITALIAN ARMY
Three years ago, word went around the country that four leading Blngers from the famous Slstlne Chapel of Rome were coming to America for a limited concert tour. There were many who doubted that vocalists from the Vatican precincts of the Holy City could be induced to fulfill euch a mission, yet there was no reason to question the sources from which the news sprang. Negotiations were completed, but with the continuance of the war it was impossible to carry out the project. In the meantime great interest naturally surrounded the undertaking and when It was definitely announced last winter that the Wolfsohn Musical Bureau of New York would act as booking agents for the noted artists, that office waa besieged with inquiries from all parts of the United States and Canada. The natural result was a large number of contracts for the appearance of the four 6ingers over a territory extending from Montreal to New Orleans, eomo sixty or more cities. Saw Service In Army. Two of the singers from the Slstlne Chapel who are to appear in the Coliseum on Monday evening, Oct. 13, saw service with the Italian armies.
Ezlo Cecchini, the tenor, was an artillery officer and Augusto Dos Santos was attached to the Infantry. Both singers were recalled from the front to take part in the Christmas and Easter services in the Sistine Chapel. Signor Cecchini has been a soloist in the famous choir for nine years. It is said that he has declined many fine operatic offers. The two other members of the quartet, Signor Gabrielli and Signor Gentili, soprano and contralto respectively, have occupied their prominent places as soloists in the choir for more than ten years. It has been no small novelty for American audiences to hear the eoprano and contralto parts sustained ly men in the many concerts this season. Through an open date, Richmond vill be perhaps the only small city in the United States to have an opportunity to hear these singers.

WASHINGTON. Fanina the dancing-girl, known as "the pearl of paradise" of the All Baba Cafe in Mzab, was a voluptuous Houriand fascinating, as she wriggled her volupterous body in rythmic sway to tho tintinnabulations of the oriental music in the "Ale Baba ShimmyShiver," in the 11. B. Warner production, "The Man Who Turned White." Wine-bibbers of the Soudan, roues who were at home in every doubtful cafe from Paris to Bagdad, fell under her magic spell. Fanina didn't wear much in the way of costume. In fact, a gorgeous necklace, long ear-pendants and shining breast-shields, were the sum and substance of her wardrobe. But how Fanina could wiggle! Every muscle twitched and rippled over her body in synchrony with the throbbling rulse of the wild oriental Can-Can." Was Fanina a wanton? By no means. Her heart belonged only to one Captain Rand, the dashing officer of the loreign legion and for him she would die, if necessary. And if some other Houri became too familiar with the Captain, she too, would die, and the Captain also, for Fanina loved in a fierce and primitive way. "The Man Who Turned White," opens a three day engagement at the Washington Theatre, beginning today. H. B. Warner, Hip famous Knglish actor, appears in this colorful drama of the great Sahara desert, replete with oriental glamour and thrilling episodes.
