The American Pathfinders Squadron, comprising fire airplanes and twenty-six motor trucks, while In this city on recruiting service, exhibited a search light that aviators can see 110 miles away. The searchlight Is said to have a candle power of 300,000,000, and is Baid to be the most powerful in the world. According to Lieut. R. E. Grower, who Is In charge of this part of tho squadron, the searchlight would be visible for more than 110 miles, but for the curvature of the earth. Its light is 400 percent brighter than day, he said. The human eye can follow the beam only three miles, the normal

Wife of Indian Scout Likes Airplane Rides (By Associated Press) BOISE. Idaho, Sept. 12. Mrs.- Orlando Robbins, 73 years old, wife of "Rube" Robbins, famous Indian scout and United States marshal, during the wild days of Idaho's territorial infancy, has made an airplane flight and expressed xpuch pleasure over the ridel "I would not have missed it for anything," she said, "and I sSl to go again real soon." "She is the best passenger I ever took up," said the pilot after the flight. Mrs. Robbins came to Idaho in a prairie schooner and remarked that the trip through the air was much different from her first Journey into Idaho.

(By Associated Press) INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 12. Of the $15,000,000 fund to be raised by the American Red Cross, in the organization's third roll call for membership, from November 2 to 11, Ohio, Indiana and , Kentucky, which comprise the Lake division, will have a quota of $1,880,000, according to word received here from- the Lake division headquarters at Cleveland. This announcement was made by MacKenzte R. Todd, campaign manager, who attended the conference at national headquarters. "A summary of after war activities, for which the fund is being raised," says Mr. Todd." "includes nation-wide promotion of public health and extension of the country's nursing resources; extension of facilities for disaster relief, completion of relief measures for war victims in this country and abroad; increasing assistance to the army and navy in proportion to the increase in the standing army authorized by congress, and uniting the children of all nations under the Junior Red Cross.

Hold Church Services to Fight Sunday Movies (By Associated Press) SHELBYVILLE, Ind., Sept. 12 The Shelbyville Ministerial association composed of the pastors of all Protestant churches in the city, will fight the Sunday movies, but not in the courts, according to present plans. The pastors propose to hold union services every Sunday evening and hope in this manner to bring the people back to the churches. Sunday motion picture shows have been doing business in Shelbyville only a few weeks.
