Gorgas, former surgeon general of the United States army, who has been investigating sanitary conditions in Central and South America, has offered to assume technical direction of the sanitation of Guayaquil if money for the work is supplied by the municipality or the government of the republic, it was announced today. General Gorgas. at the request of the Peruvian authorities will proceed to Piura, 210 miles from Gusyaquil, which is infected with yellow fever. War Savings Stamps Are Cashed; Hold 'Em! "They do not need the money, that is, the greater majority of them, but seem to be under the impression now that the war is over, there is no need of holding their stamps," continued Beck.
