RICHMOND ftlAY SECURE LEAGUE
BASEBALL AGAIN
Directors of Ball Club to Start
Negotiations for Berth in
Three-Eye or Central. Negotiations for league baseball, either in the Three 1 league, or a revived Central league, with Richmond as a member, will be started by the directors ol the Richmond Baseball association soon. After a taste of real baseball In 1917, when Richmond had a team in the Central league, local fans have been clamoring for real games and members of the association claim that
they will have a team in one of the two leagues next year, if there is any possibility for such a thing at all. Efforts were made to give Richmond a place in the Three 1 league this season, but difficulties In team transportation made this impossible, and the directors of the association decided to play Sunday baseball, only, this season. Sunday Baseball Unsatisfactory Sunday baseball ha proved unsatisfactory to both the association and the fans, and the Indiana league, which was formed at the beginning of the season, is now tottering, and will probably break up soon. In the meanwhile, the directors are trying to keep the affairs of the club in such chape that they wll be able to negotiate for a league berth in 1920. Several tentative plans are being considered by local officials, and there is hut little doubt that Richmond will
be able to get into a league next year. If Richmond enters the Three 1 league, efforts will be made to place franchises in Dayton, Springfield, and probably one other city in the eastern side of the circuit, with Terre Haute, Evansville, Peoria and Bloomington on the other end. With such a division of the teams, the question of transportation will be solved, and the expense will not be bo groat as to cause any loss to any one club. Some talk has been made concerning the reorganizing of the Central league, practically the same towns that held franchises in 1917. although he sentiment In Michigan cities is
not known. A meeting of representatives from league cities will be held In the near future, and it Is probable that some form of organization will be made at that time.

Anita Stewart ready for a trial flight. Anita Stewart, who is one of the favorite film beauties, is hoping td be a licensed air pilot soon. She has been taking lessons in one of tha southern California aviation schools, but as yet has not secured her license. It was rumored that she was to make a flight from Los Angeles to Toleda to see the big fight. Had she gone, however, she would not have piloted her own machine, but would have taken the trip with Eddie Rickenbackci or Rudy Cameras

REDS HAVE GIANTS BUFFALOED; START AT BROOKLYN TODAY
BROOKLYN. July 17 With John McOram and his chesty Giants shaking in their shoes, just across the river, the Cincinnati Reds will start a four game series with the Dodgers here this afternoon. The Reds were up In the air over the postponement of the double header at Philadelphia Wednesday, but the peeve was dispelled when they learned of the sad state of mind of the Giants. According to members of other teams, the Giants, once as haughty as kings, are now fearful of the Reds' playing, and durine ?!' of thiwatch the score board continually to
see how the Westerners f
Manager Moran is etili on the lookout for reserve players, and Is somewhat worried over the lack of extra men for the team. Any accident to a player now, would put the Reds in a bad hole, and with the pennant within their reach, he does not want to take any risk of throwing up bis chances on account of lack of players. Whitewater Elects New Manager; Wants Games The Whitewater baseball team met Tuesday evening and elected a new manager, Glenn Jennings; Morris Burt was made secretary and treasurer. Last Sunday the ball team won over Centervllle 10 to 9. Whitewater wants to book games with any team now until the end of the season. Write to Glenn Jennings, Richmond, Ind., R. R. B.

"If a LA FENDRICH doesn't suit your taste, you are either sick o? don't know what constitutes a good cigar." "You see, tha Fendrichs are very particular rbout their makes of cigars. They pick their tobaccos, themselves, right in the big Cuban patch, and age and mellow it under real Havana climatic condi
