CHINA TO SIGN PEACE TREATY WITHJISTRIA Expect to Gain Membership in League of Nations by Accepting Second Pact. (By Associated Press) PARIS, July 3. The Chinese deleSates to the peace conference expect to sign the treaty with Austria. C. T.
Wang, a member of the delegation, told the Associated Press correspondent yesterday. He said the Austrian treaty contains rothlng objectionable to his government, as it includes the League of Nations covenant. The Chinese would gain membership in the league in that manner. The Chinese also will sign the Hungarlan treaty, he said, as China declared war against Austria-Hungary, but they probably would not sign either the Turkish or Bulgarian treaties, as the war was not declared against those countries by China. New Cabinet Uncertain Messages received from Peking by the delegation, according to Mr. Wang, show the government and the people are supporting the delegation's refusal to sign the German peace treaty without being able to make reservations on the Shantung question. He said national feeling in China had been strengthened greatly by the delegation's action. The delegation's advices said no new cabinet had been named In China to succeed that which recently resigned, but that Kung Hslng Chun has been acting as premier.

LANSING AND WILSON REPORTED AT ODDS
WASHINGTON, July 3. Well Informed officials here are not surprised by the persistent reports that Secretary of Stats Lansing plans to return to the United "States in July, relinquishing his position at the peace conference as a member of the council of lve. ' They declined to state the grounds of Mr. Lansing's dissatisfaction at Paris, but they are thought to relate to instructions he has received from President Wilson, which, according to rumor, greatly restricts Mr. Lansing's action. The report that Undersecretary of State Polk will succeed Secretary Lansing at the peace conference could not be confirmed here. Mr. Polk has for some months, on account of the condition of his health, been advised by his physician to take a rest, and he is believed to be disinclined to undertake the arduous work which his assignment to Paris would involve. Mr. Polk is expected to return to Washington next Monday.

FEEL as though I never j want to dance again," m o ra A wiw UntAVI T? fYt - '
mond woman and actress, who has returned from a year's service overseas with the Y. M. C. A. "After you have danced
for six months, with hundreds of boys, in hob nail shoes, many of whom never danced before, you feel just that way. It was real work and I feel deserving of any number of chevrone, for wounds received on the ankle and shin." Miss Horton went to France last August with the Overthere Theatre League. She said it was quite remarkable that she ever arrived, for tha trip was made in a small South American boat, the "Quiopue" which only accommodated 70 persons. It was made a channel boat after the passengers were safely landed, .and was sunk in the channel three weeks later. A party of Overthere Theatre
League people and Y. M. C. A. work-1 era made the trip on the boat with Miss Horton. Irene Franklin, and her husband, Burton Green, were among the entertainers going over to amuse the boys. After arriving MIssHorton traveled over almost all of France for three months, with the Theatre League. She then went Into the Y. M. C. A. canteen work, on a leave. - She was first in the advance area and then in the leave area. She remained in this work, because she said it was the first really worth while thing she had done. Miss Horton said the Y. M. C. A. canteen work was splendid. Work Was Worthwhile.
"The women worked from 9 o'clock in the morning until 11 o'clock at night," said Miss Horton. The work was very hard, but worth while. In our canteen work we sewed about 400 and we had to make pancakes for that many boys with almost no facilities. "We gave dances all the time to
amuse the boys. The French girls assisted us, because there were not enough American women." When asked about the French girl and the impression that she made on the American boys. Miss Horton said she thought that being billeted sometimes in little mud villages where there are girls of a lower class than in the cities, the American boys have formed the wrong impression of the French girl. "Many of the American men were in France and never saw a French cit7 nothing but little mud camps, and of course did not meet the upper class of French girls. Where I was the American men were treated royally by the upper class of French people. They invited them into their homes and the men met the right sort of girl, entirely."
Miss Horton went Into Germany and lipon returning to Paris, traveled the battle front. She brought home some
souvenirs but left them all in New York, she said. Miss Horton has no plans for the future as yet, but says she is perfectly I contented to stay at home and rest for a while. She wil'. be with her mo
