theater IREMBIHCIMMBSeSia MURRAY It is difficult to place "The Way of a Man With a Maid." the new Para mount picture starring Bryant Washburn, which shows at the Murray theatre todav. for somehow It doesn't fit

. into any class. It is too individual to s be classified, for it has comedy and pathos, and once or twice it almost

verges on tragedy. But it Is entirely human, its characters are never puppets, but always living, breathing people that, we can understand and sympathize with. In that lies its charm. :cr instead of giving us a complicated, highly dramatic plot the author has aken r: group of people, shown us -heir faults and foibles, as well as their virtuer.e, and the result is not nly entertainment but also a very jgh quality of art. It is the opinion of thosa who saw he picture that the screen needs more photoplavs like "The Way of a 'Ian With a Maid." In these highly rcugrt times, when the efforts of

motion picture writers to get "punch" j nto . heir dramas often results in a rather strained effect, it is refreshing ' 'r. find anything as unpretentious and j refreshing as this picture. The inter- j ' retation of the story is of the highest j order, too, acting and directing being

combined skillfully in a way to get the most from the story. MURRETTE. "The Unpardonable Sin," which Is to be presented at the Murrette theatre for a four-day engagement beginning today, is a moving picture attraction which- Richmond people who have followed the development of the screen as a medium for the presentation of really big dramatic ideas canrot afford to miss. There have been many unqualified expressions of opin

ion to the effect that "The Unpardon-j

able Km is the greatest photoplay erei- produced, and there is no denial cf the statement that it ranks with ruch attractions as "The Birth cf a

Nation," "Intolerance," and "Hearts j of the World," all of wh:ch are out-;

standing successes ia the realm of nrvirg pictures. "The Unpardonable Sin" was completed or. the Pacific coast a few weeks ago at a time when there wore assembled at Los Angeles practically all of the tig men of the motion picture industry, and it was before an audience composed of these men that the photoplay was first exhibited. The consensus of opinion was that "The Unpardonable Sin" was big in every flpnsd of thfl word Mtr In the storv

told, Mg in its manner of telling, and big in the work of Blanche Sweet, the

star, and the players who support her. The early opinion has been more than confirmed by the reviews of moving picture critics of New York, who hare recently been afforded an opportunity of passing Judgment upon it. "Tho Unpardonable Sin will be shown nt eix performances daily at the Murrette theatre, tho matinee starting at 1:15 o'clock and the evening presentation at 7:15.

WASHINGTON Most powerful of all Geraldlne Farrar's screen achievements Is her newest Goldwyn production, "The Stronger Vow," a thrilling, modern drama, laid In the picturesque Pyrenees and

In the haunts of the Apaches In Paris. 1 Never before have the remarkable talents of the International celebrity been given such wide scope, nor have her cinema admirers ever been enthralled and thrilled as Goldwyn confidently predicts they will be by her latest screen offering a vehicle replete with situations that demand test after test of Geraldlne Farrar's histrionic powers. As In her previous Goldwyn successes, the diva has a supporting cast nothing short of brilliant, Milton Sills. Tom Santschl and Hassard Short names standing for extreme screen accomplishment eclipsing all previous portrayals in support of the star of stars. If you are married to a pretty girl, and If you have a friend who likes your wife, and every time he sees you he greets you with an angelic smile and shakes your hand with a Pythian friendship you can be pretty sure that he is wearing a false face that his real attitude toward you is one of animosity and that it would give him real pleasure to be able to push you off a pier into the ocean or drop a bomb somewhere in your vicinity.
