LIFT BLOCKADE VIIEN GERMANS" RATIFY TERMS
Superior Allied Council Takes Steps to Remove Enemy Trade Restrictions. (Br Associated Press) WASHINGTON. June 30 The superior blockade council has been Instructed to be prepared to raise the economic blockade of Germany immediately upon ratification by the German national assembly of the peace treaty. This announcement was made In a dispatch to the state department from Paris, reading as follows:, "At a meeting Thursday. June 26,
associated powers adopted following
resolutions in regard to the raising of the blockade on Germany. . '"The superior blockade council la instructed to base its arrangements for rescinding restrictions upon trade with Germany on the assumption that the allied and associated powers will rot wait to raise the blockade until the completion of the ratification as
provided for at the end of the treaty
of peace with Germany but that it is to bfl raised Immediately on the receipt of information that the treaty of peace has been ratified by Germany." Removes Trade Restrictions The action of the council officials here explained the means upon rati
fication of the treaty by Germany all restrictions upon trade with Germany may be removed. Without requiring individual ratification by the allied associated powers all of the nations arrayed against Germany in the war may have an equal start In the race for German trade. Raising of the blockade without awaiting individual ratification, was said by officials to mean more to the United States than any other nation because final approval of the treaty, owing to governmental machinery, probably will require longer in the United States than in the other countries..

King George Sends Greeting On Attainment of Peace (By Associated Press) LONDON, June 30. King George has sent the following message to President Wilson: "In this glorious hour when the long struggle of nations for right, justice and freedom is at last crowned by a triumphant peace, I greet you, Mr. President, and the great American people, in the name of the British nation. "At a time when fortune seemed to frown and the issues of the war trembled in the balance, the American people stretched out the hand of fellowship to those who on this side of the ocean were battling for a righteous cause. Light and hope at once shown brighter in our hearts, and a new day dawned. "Together we have fought to a happy end; together we lay down our arms in proud consciousness of valiant

MUSIC, LIGHTS AND CROWDS CELEBRATE FINAL END OF WAR
Music, bright lights and noise were the order on Main street Saturday night, when the city broke loose and gave a rousing celebration in honor of the signing cf the peace treaty. Nearly everyone In Richmond came down town, and most of the people from the neighboring farms and towns came into the city some time during the evening to join the jollity. As early as 6 o'clock convoys and
advanced groups of people were on
their way. The city band had already arrived on the corner of Tenth
and Main streets. For an hour or
more small demonstrations took place
as detached brigades of jolllfiers ar rived on the scene.
The first parade started west from I
Tenth street and consisted of the Kilties Band from the Murray Theater, the Richmond City Band, numerous ex-service men and other civilians. By 9 o'clock things were "going strong" and people who did not care for noise mingled with music, illuminated with street lights, and for rockets shot from automobiles with roving searchlights, went home. Main street resembled circus day until well Into Sunday morning. In the movies the "Star Spangled Banner was played and war time patriotism brought everyone to his
feet. All theatres and stores were profusely decorated with flags and bunting, and the spirit of the evening in Richmond made itself felt through even the most tense "picture story."
