PEACE TERMS FINAL
DECLARES BOilAR LAV
(Br Associated Press) LONDON. Jane 17. The peace terms presented to Germany Monday are the final reply of the allies. Andrew Bonar Law, government spokesman in the House of Commons, declared in opening the Victory loan
campaign at the Quildhall. The speak- j
er said he hoped earnestly a uermans would sign the terms. "It is for them to choose within fire
days," Bonar Law added. "They must j sign or the armistice is at an end. There must be a just peace, but a just peace must be a stern peace." ! The speaker said that the chief of j
the British staff had declared twentythree different wars were now going on, and added: "It is not all orer. It Is quite possible by want of wisdom, by absence of restraint, by disunion among the allies and by want of unity at home to lose, nbt the victory, but the full force of the victory which has been bought so dearly."

Hagerstown Man Writes On Housing Situation The Palladium Is in receipt of the following letter from a Hagerstown subscribed: I have been a reader of your paper for several years. Of late I have seen several articles in your paper on the scarcity of houses in Richmond. Richmond is not the only place that is Euffering the same' . trouble. There has not been an empty house in this town for' the past five years. The great drawback here is that a few people have a great many vacant lots that are not even being utilized for gardening. They are just filled up with trash and weeds. One man owns a quarter of a block in the residence district, but will not sell any part of it for any price. There are many people here who would build homes if they could obtain the ground within reason." JuBt think of Richmond prices for lots here where we have no sewers or waterworks. Another detriment to our town is that several farmers have come to town within the past year and instead of buying a lot and building a home, which they are amply able to do, they buy. a home and throw out a tenant. There have been several occasions of late where it has been necessary for persons to move out of town. I am a tax payer here and no doubt pay more taxes than some of these pay, than twenty times more than I have. There are several instances where some of these men give in their lots at $75 to $150. They ask from one to two thousand dollars for the same lots. Is that right? Hoping this to meet with your consideration I am just giving you a few facts in regard to our village. Should you give this some mention it may help to boost our cause. I remain, L. B. ROODMAN.
