SEEDERS TEAM IS VICTOR IN PITCHING DUEL

Takes Game From JohnsonFryes With 1 to 0 ScoreBetter Work Shown. 'With KingvSol shining hotly Saturday afternoon, the S. A. L. teams per-, formed as scheduled at the park and playgrounds, with one good exhibition and two mediocre ones. The A. S. M. made it three straight Saturday afternoon winning the second game at the Exhibition park from the Jobnson-Fryes, 1 to 0. It was purely a pitching duel all the way through. . 1 Rus Hawekotte and Foxy Schepman were the moundsmen who fought the mound battles. Saturday's game makes Hawekotte's record three straight in the S. A. L. while Foxy was forced to accept his first defeat. Both pitchers were well supported In the field. The fatal run came in the seventh inning after six innings of almost perfect ball. The first weakening of Rus Hawekotte took the form of a wild pitch which landed accldently on Foxy Schepman's dome shaking up that gentleman's thinking machine so much that he allowed the Seeders to bring In one lone marker in the last inning of the game.

The Swayne-Robinson club, with aj new pitcher on the mound, did not fare so well, coming out at the small end of a 11 to 3 score in favor of the Jenkins-Vulcans. The two clubs divided the hits evenly but the Threshers failed to punch out the horsehide when a hit would count most. After the first three innings the Jay-Vees had the Threshers defeated but wishing to show how much more superior they were, poked seven more runs across the plate in the fourth inning and then subsided. Make Improved Showing McConaha and Miller were the two new pill handlers and both succeeded In striking out a goodly number. Miller forced eight back to the bench while McConaha whiffed ten and allowed one free ticket to first. Although the Wayne Works played errorless ball Saturday, Harold Runnels was not in shape to shut down on the Starr slabmen who connected with the sphere for 14 safe hits. Kutter, pitching for the Starr aggregation, held the Workers to six safeties and two runs while his team crossed the plate nine times. The second home run of the season was rung up Saturday and one threebase hit was made. Staley brought in the homer while Henneger got the three bagger. With the showing that the teams made Saturday better baseball will be expected on Saturday afternoons than has been exhibited during the early part of the season: - - (First Game)
