Saturday Afternoon Teams Will Resume Play This Week Season is Extended SATURDAY AFTERNOON LEAGUE. Exhibition Park. Swayne-Robinson vs Jenkina-Vulcans. A. 8. M. vs. Johnson-Fry, I. G. C. ' Playgrounds. Starr vs. Wayne Works. After a short vacation the Saturday afternoon league will again resume Its regular play at Exhibition park and Playgrounds, Saturday afternoon. Five games have already been postponed which will complete the season early in September instead of August which was first planned. The first game- Saturday afternoon should, according to the dope, be an evenly matched contest unless the Threshers show up jexeptionally well In tie field. Strayer, who pitched for the Threshers two weeks ago did some good work for his first game, and by this Saturday should have developed a fairly good soup bone, which will give the Jay-Vees something to do to - hit the old horsehlde. Dopesters are looking for some good ball from the Spring team, but up to date nothing exceptional has been shown by the club which prcibably has more baseball players to draw from than any other factory team in town. With the announcement that Mlnner had withdrawn his services from Swayne-Hobinson plant that team's chances took a big slump until Strayer mysteriously appeared In the role of a pitcher and showed ability on the mound. Have Strong Batteries. The leader, Ernie Bosworth's Seeders are scheduled to meet one of the rag contenders, the Johnson-Fry, I. G. C. Russ Hawekotte will appear In the mound for the A. S. M. and Everett Hass will reign behind the batsman's box. These two have been putting up some opposition that has baffled all S. A. L. slabmen to date, but the Jeff Glovers carry some eagle-eyed batters on their lineup, who may find Russ' offering. . JohnBoa-Fry will have Schepman and Hauk to oppose the A. S. M. battery. Both players have been doing good work In their respective positions and with superb support for both pitchers In the field this game promises to be the best on the S. A. L. card Saturday. On the Playground diamond the Starrs with Sturm and Witte doing the bombarding act against an unknown battery from the Wayne Works will finish the day's play. The Starrs show a strong tendency - to take the lead in the league race and expect to have an easy time winning from the Workers, but Manager Stansberry of the latter place Is trying to strengthen his team to finish the league race in good shope.

Grand Rapids On June 20 GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.. June 13. Frankie Mason, fly weight champion of the world, is booked to fill onfehalf of a bill at this place Friday night, June 20. Mason recently was awarded a decision over Pal Moore, Memphis bantam, and is matched to meet Jimmy Wilde, July 17, at London, England. Johnny Ertle Is being sought to meet Mason. Ertle recently met Pete Herman at St. Paul.

TOWNSHIP NINES GROW IN NUMBER
COUNTY BASEBALL SUNDAY R.chmond All-Stars at Whitewater. Boston at Erownsvil!e. A county baseball league could easily be organized wtih the number of teams that are springing up at the different township seats. All the towns that contemplated entering a county league have teams organized with the exception of Fountain City. The Miller-Kempers. Whitewater and Boston were the first teams to enter the county field, but now three more teams are playing, besides another local team. Philomath organized a team soon after the first three pioneer clubs were under way and now Centervllle and Brownsville have entered the field with new teams. The Richmond All-Stars has been the latest team organized here and opened its seaso'n very luckily much to the chagrin of Centervllle which was defeated by the local team in their first battle. Sunday the All-Stars plays its second game against Whitewater at that place. Whitewater is one of the strongest teams outside Richmond and promises to give the locals a stiff scrap. The namesake of the bean city will send its team of husky railroaders to Brownsville to try to duplicate the victory of last Sunday over the southern city's team when the two met at Boston. Brownsville has a good team comprised almost entirely of players from that place. Rumors are afloat that another team will enter the race soon which will have some of the Richmond players on it. Both Johnny and Herbie Logan are now journeying to Liberty where they will play ball with the Union county lads.

In spit of the fact that Pennsylvania leaf has been slowly advancing in trice, and the stock in eastern growers' hands has been steadily redueed, there seems to be concerted pressure on the Ohio leaf market. Several Miami Valley points report "sales during the week and there has been considerable activtlty shown by buyers in Preble county for some time. This does nqt mean that their bids are very generally accepted by members of the association in fact it is stated that in some sections not a single member has sold any tobacco. Howover this may be, tobacco has gone out in carloads from West Alexandria, Eldorado and Eaton, though the percentage sold at Eaton, the center of quite a wide district, has so far been comparatively unimportant. Eldorado seems to have become the center of attack on the Grower's association, and several active and persuasive buyers have dropped in at this attractive little city, from time

rormed that the situation is rather "quiet" but that a few sales were made at that point during the week. The prices reported were ths same as at various other points Spanish, 15 cents; seed leaf, 12 to 13 cents. These are the figures quoted also at Eldorado on recent purchases, and said to have been the "top" on both varieties. Just what percentage of the Preble county crop has so far been sold we cannot state with any deerree of cer
tainty, for there have been sales at widely scattered points, many of which have not been reported as to quantity. It seems assured, however, that compared with the total crop the aggregate of sales to data is not large ana is still below ten per cent. The Tobacco Leaf, an old and well Informed New York publication, states that the manufacture of cigars shows a very healthy increase, everywhere, and that stocks of leaf in factory ware
houses are being noticeably reduced. !
