IS FOUND DEAD IN AN ICR POND Miss Grace Sturr Had Been Suffering From: Nervous Trouble for Years. ; r By W. A. MA. R8H. 8taff Correspondent. EATON, O., June 8--The body of Miss Grace Sturr, 36 yi?ors old, daughter of the late Jacob ' Sturr, of this city, was found In Fl Dry's Ice pond. Immediately south of the Main street bridge, at 5:30 o'clod'c this morning, by Louis "Wearer, wlio had gone to the pond to fish. Reiativea entertain the belief that Miss f3turr threw herself into the pond ill an attempt to end her life. She had been in ill health for about nlzie years, baring been afflicted with a, nervous trouble. The body was discovered only a few feet from the bfink of the pond, face downward, and clad only In a nightdress. According to relatives. Miss Sturr was in he r bed at 3 o'clock this morning when "'the mother arose to. .give" her a drink f water. All the doors had been eectiirely locked In an effort to thwart aji attempt on the part of Miss Sturr to leave the house, as It is Bald that lilhe had previously threatened to end lier life. It is supposed that Miss Siturr obtained an exit from the house, through a window of her bedroom. ' - Slater Undergoing Treatment. Miss Sturr's sislr. Miss Ida Sturr, is in the Dayton. State Hospital for Insane, it was declared here this morning. . - The body was irecovered by Chief of Police Willard ilrmstrong and John Bender, and was removed to the home by Undertaker F. O. Girton of this city. No arrangements for the funeral had been made at a late hour today. The decendent is survived by the mother, Mrs. Eivaline Sturr, with whom she made her home, and two sisters, Mrs. Henry Stroh of Eaton, and Mrs. W. L. llisk of Newcastle. Sketches For New High Schools Expected Soon Preliminary sketches for the new Junior High Schools are expected to arrive soon from the architects, Per kins. Fellows and Hamilton, J. H. Bentley, superintendent of schools 'said Tuesday morning. When the board of education approves the genferal plan as set forth in the sketches the final plans and specifications will be made. ;

EARLHAM TO CLOSE DRIVE THIS WEEK President David M. Edwards, of Earlham college, said today that the outlook is bright for closing this week the Emergency Fund campaign for $60,000. for which the college men under the direction of Financial Manager Stacy McCracken, have been campaigning for several months. "I can not, however, be too sanguine," said President Edwards, "for the fund is not yet completed, and I feel that considerable more effort must be made before the entire amount is obtained. It Is our hope that the fund will be subscribed by the end of the week." The emergency fund Is to pay the college deficit, and if possible, repair some of the college buildings. Prospects for the coming year at Earlham are very good, it is understood. Educational institutions throughout the country are planning for a "boom year" and it is thought that the year 1919-1920 will be one of success for the local college. LIVE STOCK SAFEGUARDED. WASHINGTON, June 3. As a further means of preventing the spread of tuberculosis among live stock, interstate shipments of cattle failing to pass the tuberculin . test will be prohibited beginning Juiy 1, under a regulation issued by the Department of Agriculture. RAINFALL IS HEAVY The rainfall for Monday was fiftythree one-hundredths, which would not be unusual were it not for the space of time in which the rain fell. WILLIAMS IS GIVEN SALARY INCREASE
County superintendent of public schools,- C. O. Williams, was given an increase in salary of $1,000 a year by the county commissioners Monday afternoon. Williams presented a petition signed by 465 free-holders, the townehip trustees, and every school board in the county. He will receive $2,400 a year instead of the present salary of $1,400. The salary of the office has remained at $1,400 since 1891, although many teachers in the county are getting higher pay than the superintendent. The commissioners also approved plans and specifications for the finishing of the Main street bridge, and will receive bids on June 26. PARK HEAD OFFERS REWARD FOR VANDAL Edward Hollarn, superintendent at Glenn Miller Park, has offered a reward of $5 for the detection of the person who has been throwing the iron vase off the second bridge on the east drive. Mr. Hollarn said that one of the four large stone vases has been thrown off the bridge three times in the last ten days. Sunday night tho vase was thrown off. It had been filled with flowers and these were completely destroyed. The reward has been offered to the person who can locate the destroyer of public property. Miss Delora Angell, sixteen-year-old Lake Forest girl, who inherited the J. W. Gates millions, inherited also seven carloads of fine furniture, which has arrived in Chicago.
