WASHINGTON Clara Kimball Young and Her Own Company will be seen here today at the Washington theatre, In her latest Select Picture, "Cheating Cheaters." adapted by Kathryn Stuart from Max Marcin's celebrated stage play of the same name. ; The story openi -with Nan Carey, played by Miss Young, In a beautiful home near New York, where a group of crooks are living under the name of Brockton. Their purpose is to strike an acquaintance with the wealthy Palmer family and thus secure the celebrated Palmer jewels. Nan. beautiful and brainy. Is the leader of the gang, and through the mutual fascination of Nan and young Tom Palmer the Intimacy of the two families Is soon established. The Brocton gang decides that haste Is Imperative because of the rumored presence In the neighborhood of a famous detective, Ferris. A fake telegram calls the Brocton out of town and the Palmers take the bait and Invite Ruth to stay with them during her "parents'" absence. At the Palmers, where Ruth has planned to get the Jewels as an Inside Job, she learns that the gems are fakes and that her hosts are also crooks, themselves having planned to rob the sup posedly wealthy Broctons. Finally the two gangs recognize the true calling of the other and they decide to form a joint syndicate. They hold a meeting for the purpose of arranging details.
