PARIS. May 22. The Turkish prob

lem has become most acute In the . peace conference. Various delegates

re striving to find some solution for the dismemberment of the empire hich will not provoke a religious war. " The United States is being looked to by the other powers as the only nation which can become the mandatory for Constantinople without the danger of precipitating another European war but the American delegates to the peace conference express doubt of the willingness of the United States to accept the mandate, especially under the conditions which the powers have outlined. With the Sultan removed from Constantinople, the American delegates expressed the belief that it might be possible for the American public to become - reconciled to the mandate. However, the Indian delegation which has appeared before the council of four 110 plead for special consideration of Tthe feelings of the Mohammedan world as well as other Mohammedans who have made statements, assert that the Sultan must not be forced out of Con--stantinople, declaring that such action would greatly affect his standing in the church. 4

AUTO LAV VIOLATORS ARE ROUNDED UP

All sorts and conditions of men will face Mayor Zimmerman on charges operating automobiles without license, Friday and Saturday morning, as the fruit of a campaign started against automobile drivers in violation of the laws. Six persons are already slated on the chaarge, and the police are investigating several more caes, some of which will prabably result in summons. Every auto run without a license will get its owner before city court, police officials say. Running or leaving cars stand, without lights, placing of the license in such a position it cannot readily be read, and all other violations of traffic rules will be checked as well as running without license, said the chief. Those accused include - H. F. Pilgrim, Paul Semler, Rudolph Rak, Cyril Pitts, Charles Dempsey and A. Q. Mathews. Names of several others are held by police.

LOCAL SCOUTS PLAN

CITY ORGANIZATION

The city organization of Richmond

Boy Scouts will be formed in the near future, according to an announcement made by Secretary O. M. Brunson.

Thursday. t As the scout troops organization become permanent plans will be laid for a scout meeting to organize a city council composed of local men interested in the scout movement. It is thought that a scout executive will be brought here from some other city to aid In the city organization. June 8 is national scout week all over the country. On Sunday June 8, Secretary Brunson intends to suggest to each superintendent having a troop that the scouts participate insome form of the scout work. He will probably suggest that each scout give one of the scout laws, the salute and the scout oath. A tentative program will be worked out later.

The Rev. and Mrs. D. W. Foster have received word of the death of their grandson, David Thomas Anderson, which occurred Wednesday at the home of his parents, the Rev. and Mrs. Louis Anderson in Brownsburg.
