WASHINGTON. Described as a smart comedy-drama of society, Tom Moore's new Goldwyn picture, "A Man and His Money," shown at the Washington theatre the , last time today, was written by Frederick S. Isham, author of a score of popular novels and short stories, and the skill of the experienced writer is .found not only in the plot of the O story, but in the accuracy of the characterizations. Tom Moore Is Harry Lathrop, a young man with more money than is good lor him. Because of his pleasure-loving disposition and habits, his fiancee breaks their engagement, whereupon Harry literally "goes to the dogs" but not in the conventional sense. He relinquishes his income for a year and answers an advertisement for a "man who is accustomed to dogs." To his chargin he learns that he is expected to be a sort of valet to four pampered pets belonging to a society woman. She happens to be the aunt of Harry'B erstwhile fiancee, and when the girl encounters him in the performance of his absurd
duties, her scorn is too deep for words. But Harry does not give up his job, for he sees that the girl is unknowing ly on the brink of great danger.- His i efforts to save her, without causing i ner too great alarm, and his success In doing so, bring about a climax as amazing as it is thrilling. An exact reproduction ' of one of New York's most famous roof gardens which attracts both the tired business men and the hundreds of out of town visitors to its nightly revels will be seen in "That's Good," the latest Metro somedy-drama starring Hale Hamilton. This play, which will be ieatured at the Washington theatre Friday for a two days' engagement, shows the cabaret in full swing there are dancing girls, singing girls, girls on bicycles and in fact,, all the varied and unusual entertainments seen on this noted roof. The performers mingle with the diners in the usual manner, and with them are the varl-colored toy
walloons which are blown about by the merrymakers. A large jazz band adds
an air or reality to the joyous scene. MURRETTE Story of the "Pitfalls of a Big City," -featuring Gladys Brockwell, at the Murrette today and tomorrow. Marion was good enough reason for anyone who wanted to live straight. When Molly Moore looked at her little sister a great purpose came Into her heart. She would give us h4r old associates and lead a decent life. Marion must be educated and become a lady. She must not sink into the kind of life Molly had led. The opening of the Little Gem restaurant in a congested tenement district was the first step in Molly'3 straight career. Soon a thriving trade rewarded her efforts and simplified the task of educating Marion. When everything seemed to be going famously, Jerry Sullivan and Spike Davis were released from the state prison. They had been Molly's pals In the old days, and she had written to Jerry of her purpose to abandon the old crooked life. Jerry promised that he, too, would go straight when he had served his term. But Spike no sooner found himself at liberty than he stole a woman's purse, thrust It into Jerry's hands and dashed out of sight. Jerry hurled it from him and hurried to Molly's little restaurant to tell her of his pal's crime. The police traced! Jerry and accused him of the theft. But Molly squared him. Then Jerry settled down as an honest laborer. Soon Spike arrived at the Little Gem restaurant and told Molly he was anxious to meet her "swell sister" Marion who, on her way to visit her wealthy school chum, had just arrived Pale, weak, nervous people, or those suffering from weakness incident to war excitement" or the dreadful epidemics, need the prompt, pronounced, permanent effects of Iron, manganese, nux and pepsin as combined In Peptiron. for a brief stay.' Molly brushed him aside. But that did not baffle Spike. He forced his way into Marion's room and tried to kiss her. After a terrific fight, Molly sent Spike out of the house. Marlon, horrified, was persuaded to proceed without delay to the home of her chum, Alice Pemberton. Alice's brother, Ted, promptly fell In love with Marion and Boon asked her to be his wife. Marion accepted him and the engagement was published. Spike, reading the announcement, told Molly she must help him rob the Pemberton mansion. If she refused, he would reveal Marion's identity. His threat could not shake Molly from her resolve to live straight, but on the night he crept to the Pemberton mansion a great fear for Marion's safety seized Molly and caused her to follow the thief. The police discovered the pair. Spike escaped, and innocent Molly was taken to the police station. In their efforts to find Spike, the police brought Jerry to the station. To him Molly told the whole story of the robbery. Jerry told the police he would help them find the man ho had framed Molly. In a dingy saloon they discovered Spike, who confessed after a terrific fight in which he killed a policeman. Moliy was released. ,
Liberty was fine. "But to Molly the kiss that Jerry gave her outside the prison meant even more. It meant that she and he were going to leave the big city and its crime behind them and begin lire anew in tne rar west. Ie meant that her beloved sister Marion could marry into luxury, live her life with her wealthy friends and never need fear that they would learn ot Molly and her former crooked pals. MURRAY In "The Prodigal Liar," at the Murray today only, starring Wiliam Desmond, this manly and accomplished actor has the "fattest" part of his screen career. As Monte, a college-man rancher, he agrees to pose as a western desperado in order to supply "romantic" western atmosphere for the niece of his pal, Jim Rainey. Hope Deering, the girl in the case, "falls" for the hoax, and also falls in love with the "bandit," which complicates Monte's affairs, as he finds himself taking a heart interest in the girl. Having started by lying, he continues his prevarications and invents wondrous tales of his past. He also tells Hope he Is afflicted with "aphasa." Cautiously questioning Jlcle Jim Rainey regarding the dtpase, Uncle Jim, the instigator of the plot, In order to put one over on Monte, tells her a blow on the head with a rock will cure "aphasia." Hope, to save her hero, smashes him a lusty wallop with a rock and all but extinguishes his lights forever. Monte comes to in time to save her from the real outlaw, after a desperate chase on horseback over the hills, while the bandit is threatening to blow her heart out. This comedy moves at a rapid pace throughout, and is chock full of humor of the kind that finds response in laughs that come from the inside out. Kidney Remedy for 40 Years A Pronounced Success
When kidney diseases have been successfully treated for a period o! more than forty years, it is reasonable to assume that the remedy therefore must possess unusual merit. Such is the remarkable record of Warner's Safe Kidney and Liver Remedy. Without its ability to give relief and benefit its users so that they would continue its use, it could not have existed 40 months, much less than 40 years of its enviable record. Many letters have come to us to prove that it has been a household remedy for years and years. Here is what one grateful woman has recently written: "I wish to say that your remedies have been used in our family for fifteen years. We are never without a bottle of Warner's Safe Kidney and Liver Remedy in our home, and it has saved many a doctor's bill. It is a wonderful medicine for all diseases
