How to Grow
LIMA BEANS Lima beans are not adapted for planting In all parts of the United States, but they thrive in the greater part of the northern and western states, and certain of the smaller pod
ded varieties do fairly well In parts of the south. Two types of Lima beans are in general cultivation the pole, or climbers, and the bush varieties. Lima beans should not be planted until the soil Is thoroughly warm and all danger of frost or extremely cold nights is past. While the pole varieties of Lima beans are most widely planted, it Is a good plan to include a small planting of a good bush variety, as they will sometimes yield when the pole
varieties are not producing. Some persons consider the bush varieties more tender and of better flavor than the pole varieties. One decided advantage of the pole varieties is that they may be trained to a fence or any other convenient support, and do not occupy much ground. The old-fash loned method was to train them to small poles, setting these poles three to four feet apart in each direction and planting three to five beans at the base of each pole and thinning to two plants in each hill. Bush Llmas are usually planted in rows three feet apart, three beans to the hill, and eighteen Inches apart in the row. Lima beans require a rich soil. In planting them the eye of the bean should always be placed downward. The seed should not be covered more than one inch unless the soil Is extremely dry or loose. Lima beana are exceptionally valuable as a
food, and all that are not needed for immediate use during the summer may be dried for winter use. SWEET CORN Sweet corn is not adapted to growing in the extremely small garden be cause of the limited amount that can be produced on a small area. It is found, however, that most gardeners insist upon growing sweet corn even in a limited way. For best results It should be planted in a block in one corner of the garden rather than in single rows. For hoe cultivation the hills may be as close as three feet apart in each direction and three stalks may be grown in each hill. Plant as soon as danger of frost is past. Cover the seed to a depth of about one and one-half inches and give frequent cultivation from the start or until the ears have begun to form. Golden Bantam, considered one of the best early varieties. Where there is sufficient land available, a planting of Country Gentleman and a later planting of Stowells Evergreen or Mammoth Evergreen should be made. HINES TO TOUR WEST WASHINGTON, April 14 DirectorGeneral Hines plans to make an inspection tour through the west, leaving Washington tonight and visiting the Pacific coast before he xeturns in about two weeks. His itinerary has not been finally determined. He probably will confer with William G. McAdoo, his predecessor, who is now at Santa Barbara, Cal.

Here WE have OUR say. And we say Anarchy, Prusslanism, Imperialism, and Bolshevism MUST and WILL go! It is too early to say whether the League of Nations is an assured fact or merely an immatured fancy but of one thing we may be sure the world is determined to have peace the civilized sections of the world will have nothing to do with Anarchy, Prusslanism, Imperialism, or Bolshevism. We believe "the common sense of most" can be trusted to ultimately work out the plan that will make the world safe for humanity. And we believe that while civilized nations are getting together for the good of all, business men, too, should band together for the betterment of business practices, with a recognition of the fact that the good of each must be conducive to the good of all. THE TRUTH IN ADVERTISING It is deplorable that retail advertising in general, thru its own shortcomings, is not wholly believed by its readers. In the rush to gain business, exaggerated statements have been and are being made by stores everywhere. Once exaggeration is started each succeeding statement must be a little stronger in inflated statements than the previous one. So much advertising contains untrue statements, that good merchants as well as thinking people realize their harmful influence on all honest advertisers, yet few have the courage to return to the sound, truthful advertising that started their business to success. We have positively and absolutely adopted the principle of honesty in our advertising and are faithfully carrying it out. Our announcements contain nothing but facts; you'll find every printed statement appearing in "Conkey's Drug Nuggets" backed by the merchandise as advertised we will not lower our standard.

Permanent Style or Just "Pressed In"
MANY a bad line and a poorly stitched seam are pressed into shape, so that the tailor'made will look "good enough" at the time it is sold to command double what it is really worth. Only a rainstorm or good hard wear will prove whether its style is enduring, or just pressed in temporarily by the tailor's iron to make a sale but not a reputation. Wooltex Tailor -Made suits
and coats keep those stylish lines just as they are at the first tryon. The snug sleeves of a Wooltex retain the trim, tight line; the shoulders stay "just right"; the narrow skirt holds its correctly tailored line. It's because every suit and coat is first accurately designed from trim shoulders to tapering hem; then carefully tailored from excellent fabrics that hold the stylish lines.
