Sleeve Valve MOTORS

Advantages of the Sleeve-Valve Engine. Performance has proved the Knight sleeve-valve engme superior to all other types Superior in power, in flexibility, in quietness, in simplicity, in freedom from carbon trouble and the only engine that improves, instead of deteriorates, with use. In addition to its quiet operation there is a marked absence of vibration due to the uniform application of power and the accurately-balanced reciprocating parts. Instead of clashing poppet-valves, raised by blows from steel cams and slapped back by strong springs, the Willys-Knight motor has sliding valves. Two cylindrical sleeves, one within the other, glide silently up and down between the piston and cylinder wall. Long ports, or. openings, in these sleeves register with each other and with cylinder ports at proper intervals, forming large and direct passages for intake and exhaust gases. It improves with use. A lively, powerful motor to begin with, continued use makes it more smooth-running, more powerful, more efficient. For carbon the devitalizing enemy of other motors actually builds up the efficiency of this motor. Power increases with the speed of the motor far beyond the point where the power of ordinary motors begins to. fall off. It requires no adjustments. There is no grinding of valves in the Knight motor no weakening of springs to require re-timing. It has fewer parts, and those parts are mechanically correct
