WASHINGTON All financial returns received by Col Theodore Roosevelt from the exhibition throughout the world of "The Fighting Roosevelts," an authorized version of his life and works, will be donated to the American Red Cross until all our men are returned to their homes from the war. The production which will be shown at the Washington theater here, starting Sunday, Is plcturlzatlon of the life of the former President from the cradle to the White House. Colonel Roosevelt announced when negotiations were successfully concluded for a special motion picture based on his career, that he would make the American Red Cross and possibly other war work organizations the beneiclarles of any profit which might accrue to him In the agreement which was made He wrote a statement to this effect, which has been photographed and incorporated in the first reel of the picture. One of the most interesting pictures in which Alice Brady has ever been seen is her latest Select Picture, "The Better Half," which comes to the Washington theater today and tomorrow. The story was adapted for the ' screen by Louis Sherwln, from Miriam Mlchelson's novel, "Michael Thwait's Wife." The story Is one of twin sisters who are brought up by their uncle in company with their adopted cousin. Michael Thwaite. After Michael has completed his college course he marries Trlxle, while the other twin sister, Louise, enters a hospital to take up the study of nursing. Trixle Is the gay butterfly type who soon tires of Michael and runs away with Hendrick Thurston, a rich idler and libertine. While Michael la on his way to the hospital to talk things over with Louise, he is set upon by thugs and lifaten. He Is found unconscious In the street and taken to the same hospital where Louise is nursing, where it is discovered that an operation is i.ccessary to save his sight. During the weeks that follow, while Michael is in the dark, Louise takes the place that Trixie has left and Michael believes that his wife has changed her attitude and lores him. MURRAY. Several seta of remarkable beauty have been provided by Director Edward Jose in the new Paramount picture. "The Two Brides," starring Lina Cavalierl, the famous prima dona, which will be shown at the Murray theater Friday and Saturday. One of these is a reproduction of an old Italian studio of the Renaissance period in Italy. In the story of "The Two Erides" Dcnata dl Marches! is an impoverished sculptor, living on a rugged Island In the Mediterranean. His beautiful daughter Diana, the part played by Mme. Cavalierl, is his model in the sculpturing of a remarkable statue called "The Goddess." This statue is an axact reproduction, facially, of Mme. Cavalierl and is sld to be a splendid likeness. The studio of Donata Is a remarkably beautiful one, the stained glass windows used in the set having been purchased long before the war, from an Italian manufacturer for another photoplay, which was never produced, but which filled the necessary requirements of this photoplay most admirably. Numerous old painting of great value were provided for this set, which will be found to be one of the most sumptuous ever seen In any mo tionplcture. MURRETTE. What Is a virtuous wife? Amy Forrester, around whom Owen Johnson centers the celebrated story of "Virtuous Wives," which, In motion picture form, will be shown at the Murrette theater today and tomorrow, with Miss Anita Stewart as the star, declares that virtue is essentially a sate of mind. Webster's dictionary agrees with this definition, but Andrew Forrester, her husband, explodes society's upper crust In proving his own theory. The theme of the story and screen production. In which Miss Stewart returns to the ranks of stardom after an absence of several months, Is of the modern problems of married life, the division of responsibilities, time and activities between husband and wife, the allegiance a wife nomlnallx owes to her husband, and the extent of the trust he can place In her. . With the Forresters, Amy and An-i drew, leaders In their social set, the atmosphere of the production lis con- j lined to scenes and locations long ' familiar to and patronised by New ; York's ultra rich. The settings are ' necessarily lavish and extravagantly furnlshel, to make ,t ".curate the replicas of the actual homes of the society personages they are Intended to represent Mrs. Austin's Buckwheat Flour gives you the real Genuine Buckwheat flavor. Big Electrical Act Feature at the Murray Stage volunteers called from the audience to assist in the act of Fred La Rene and company, the big electrical act now headlining a house full of patrons the laughing treat of the season. Mr. LaRene and his comedy lady assistant are apparently shock-proof when It comes to absorbing electric currents, and later when the tests are tried upon people from the audience, the fun comes fast and furious. It is one of the biggest laughing acts of the season. Donald Roberts who was on the bill at Keiths Dayton, last week is here with a beautiful singing specialty, dressed In a woodland setting. He was greatly appreciated last night. Donaldson and Geraldlne have a setting with a Western atmosphere, the male member offering a recitation as we Imagine Wm. S. Hart would do it. Anyway he looks like Hart, with his chaps and forty-five. Lina Cavaleirl in "The Two Brides" is the screen offering today and tomorrow. Miss Cavalelrl's beautiful personality fits ?i admirably with this high-class vaudeville assemblage, which should attract capacity houses -this week-end. Combing Won't Rid Hair Of Dandruff The only sure way to get rid of dandruff is to dissolve it, then you destroy it entirely. To do this, get about four ounces of ordinary liquid arvon; apply it at night when retiring; use enough to moisten the scalp ! and rub It in gently with the finger I P8lustrous, glossy, silky and soft, and look and feel a hundred times better.
