DOUBLED DYE ; OUTPUT DUOIiJG 17AH (By Associated Press) , " CHICAGO, Feo. 20.Due to war's demand for dyestuffs, the United States practically doubled her output and in the next three years will be a close competitor of Germany; as the largest dye-manufacturing country In the world, according to Robert Alfred Shaw, vice president of the National Analine and Chemical Company, Inc., and a director in the American Manufacturers' Export Association. He said attention is being given to the development ot foreign markets and branch offices of large American concerns.; American dye manufacturers not only; supplied the enormous textile demands due to the war, but also the need of the American army and navy. Mr. Shaw said. In addition, the American exports in 1918 were valued at more than $10,000,000. ment during the war, but now closer study will be given to different colors, he said. "Before the war . Germany was producing 900 colors and America now is making 160 of these colors, and type for type they are equal to their German prototype."
