4 Heirt Dear Mrs. Thompson: I met a woman this summer whom I thought was all right and whom I loved very much. No one ever told me anything against her. I have been told lately that she Is a woman of bad character. - She came here from another city and seemed all right. She treats me well. What shall I do about It? What can I do for perspiration? My parents will not let me go out and will not permit my friends to call on me. The last girl friend 1 had was nice but poor and my parents did not approve of my going with her. All the other girls I have gone with have had money but have gono wrong. What shall I do? Every night when I come home my parents scold me for something I do, even though it is a small matter, undown. I am 16. Can I go out and do as I please? Am I not old enough? If I should leave home could my parents make me come back., THANK YOU. By all means do not associate with' the woman. The name by which she , has been called signifies that she is a person of bad morals. SimDlv let) her alone. For excessive perspiration go to a drug store and ask the druggist for; a formula.

Cream of Lettuce 8oup The outer green leaves, not good enough for salad, were used; one quart hot milk, slightly thickened and seasoned; simmer the lettuce leaves In barely enough water to cover them, till they are soft enough to go through the colander; add the lettuce to the hot milk, heat thoroughly and strain. Grape Fruit and Celery Salad One cup grapefruit (diced), one cup celery (diced), mayonnaise dressing. Cut the grape fruit in halves and remove the meat in sections ; then remove the skin surrounding the sections, and cut the meat in fine pieces; cut crisp white celery in pieces about the same size and add to the grape fruit. Then mix with the mayonnaise and serve In the grapefruit shells. Minced Veal Cutlet One and onehalf pounds knuckle or lean stewing Teal, one and one-half teaspoonfuls lalt, pepper to taste, one cupful white HIDING FROM TRUTH Nerves are watchers on the walls. They give the alarm when trouble approaches, and the warning is disregarded at one's peril. When Roy NIcoll's motor drew up before Janet's door, her nerves were a-jangle. "I was a stupid old hen of a companion, Roy," she tried to smile. "But don't strike me off your visiting list. I'm just tired, that's all." "Don't explain or apologize, girl," said Nlcoll.- "Think over what I told you tonight about the chivalry that lets a woman be so free and 'equal' that she works herself to death. So long! See you soon." And he sped away. Janet did not like that last speech. After she got to bed it kept revolving round and round in her tired mind. Sometimes she couldn't quite catch Its meaning. Again, she caught too much a sort of exaggerated meaning, which worried her. She lay awake, distraught and miserable. Walt awoke to find a light shining faintly through the transom of his wife's room. The chime of four rang out from a neighboring clock tower. When he got up and stole softly to Janet, the light went out suddenly and as be entered her room she -pretended to be asleep. "I know you're not asleep, dear," said Walt gently, sitting on the edge of the bed. "You've not been asleep all this night Now tell me why." "I Just woke up a few moments ago and turned on the light to look at the time," lied Janet, after the fashion of women when they are loath to saddle another with problems too complex for themselves. What troubled Walt most was that Janet not only would not acknowledge the truth to him, but was obviously even trying to hide it from herself. For weeks past he had watched with distress her strenuous work in David Temple's office. He knew her promotion had laid great responsibilities on her. But he hated to interfere with her development as she saw fit to pursue it or disturb the course of work which was to her such a source of pleasure and pride. With heavy heart he watched her bright color fade and her moods of sprightly vitality lapse Into fits of weary depression. He welcomed Roy Nlcoll's offers of motor rides and country dinners with what cordiality he could- muster, hoping they would stimulate and rest Janet. Sometimes he went along himself. But oftener he declined, as he had done tonight, ie Careful in Using Soap on Your Hair Most soaps and prepared shampoos contain too much alkali, which is very injurious, as it dries the scalp and makes the hair brittle. The best thing to use is just plain mulsified coccanut oil, for it is pure and entirely greaseless. It's very cheap, and beats the most expensive soaps or anything else all to pieces. Ycu can get this at any drug store, and a few ounces will last the whole family for months. Simply moisten the hair with water ' and rub it in, about a teaspoonful Is all

I think your parents are very foolish to let the question of money enter your friendships. Associate with good girls whether they have money or not. I should try to bear the scolding for a while at least. If you should leave home now your parents would have a right to get you. Dear Mrs. Thompson: I am a girl 15 years old. Do you think I am too young to go with boys? Do you think there is any harm in going to the skating rink if you don't skate I have black hair. What color hair ribbon do you think would look well on me? What will make your hair grow? -. . PEGGY. I do not think you -are too young to go out with a crowd of boys and girls, providing they are fresh, wholesome young people. It would not be proper for you to associate with one boy all the time. I think there is no harm in going to the skating rink on Saturday morning. If you are properly escorted, it would be all right for you to go at other-times. Shades of blue, red, plaids or in fact most any color Is becoming to black hair. A good hair tonic will make the hair grow, but if the hair is properly taken care of it will grow without any assistance. p Hint" sauce, two eggs, one tablesepoonful finely chopped parsley, one-quarter teaspoonful powdered mace, bread crumbs. Put the veal on to boil in very little water, add salt, pepper and a small onion. Boil slowly until tender (the water must have boiled away.) Put the meat through food chopper, add the white sauce, chopped parsley, mace and a well beaten egg. Mix well. Spread on platter and set in cold place for two or three hours. (This can be made the day before.) Take a tablespoonful Into floured bands and shape into cutlets. When all are shaped, dip into well beaten egg (one egg and one tablespoonful milk), then into bread crumbs. Fry in very hot cooking oil until browned nicely. These cutlets are exceptionally nice for a lap affair. The above recipe makes eight cutlets. Macaroni and Salmon One cup macaroni, one small can salmon, one cup medium cream sauce. Cook the macaroni in boiling salted water until done, then put In a greased baking dish a layer of cream sauce until all Ingredients are used. Cover with buttered bread crumbs and put in oven until crumbs are a nice brown. for fear Janet might think he did not trust them. Now he resolved upon firmness. "My dearest," he said In a lowvoiced earnestness, "you shall tell Temple tomorrow that you are in absolute need of rest. You must have a vacation or you'll be desperately ill. I can see the signs. Your nerves are writhing." "Oh, Walt! If you only wouldn't bother! Everyone gets streaks of sleeplessness," wailed Janet Irritably. "It's the easiest thing on earth for a woman to talk herself into thinking she's ill. They love to think of themselves as a delicate nervous organism that demands special treatment and expensive indulgence. I tell you I won't be one of those women, Walt. Just don't take any notice of my being out of sorts and it will pass away. I refuse to be a hypochondriac. Work is good for everyone." Walt persisted. Janet scouted his suggestions and soon became so wrought up that sleep was effectually killed for both of them that night. Walt Stedman was in a cruel dilemma. So determined was Janet not to give way to what she insisted was "mere hysterical nonsense" that she obstinately refused the warnings of her clamorous nerves. One evening she fainted In a restaurant. Never in her life had she fainted before and 6he was mortified beyond words. Walt was almost glad. When they reached home he asked: "Are you convinced now that you must take a rest?" "No. It was the bad air in that restaurant," said Janet stubbornly. Walt went straight to the telephone and called his doctor. "Janet," he said, returning, and speaking in such an arbitrary tone that his wife looked up frightened, "Dr. Marsh is coming to see you. You will see him now we'll talk about your rights later!" (To be continued.) URIC ACID IN MEAT CLOGS THE KIDNEYS Take a Glass of Salts If Your Back hurts or Bladder bothers you Drink more water. If you must have yc-ur meat every day, eat it, but flush your kidneys with salts occasionally, says a noted authority who tells us that meat forms uric acid which almost paralyzes the kidneys in their efforts to expel it from the blood. They become sluggish and weaken, then you suffer with a dull misery in the kidney reg- , ion, sharp pains in the back or sick headache, dizziness, your stomach sours, tongue is coated and when the weather is bad you have rheumatic twinges. The urine gets cloudy, full of sediment, the channels often get sore and irritated, obliging you to seek relief two or three times during the night. To neutralize these irritating acids, to cleanse the kidneys and flush off the body's urinous was'.i get four ounces of Jad Salts from any pharmacy here; take a tablespoonful in a glass of water before breakfast for a few days and your kidneys will then act fine. This famous salts is made from the acid of grapes and lemon juice, combined with lithia, and has been used for geenrations to flush and stimulate sluggish kidneys, also . to neutralize the acids in urine, so it no longer irritates, thus ending bladder weakness. Jad Salts is inexpensive; cannot injure, and makes a delightful effervescent lithia-water drink. Adv.

IT'S NOT YOUR HEART; IT'S YOUR KIDNEYS
Kidney disease is no respecter of persons. A majority ot the ills afflicting people today can be traced back to the kidney trouble. The kidneys are the most important organs of the body. They are the filterers of your blood. If the poisons which are swept irom the tissues by the blood are not eliminated through the kidneys, disease of one form or another will claim you as a victim. Kidney disease is usually indicated by weariness, sleeplessness, nervousness, despondency, backache, stomach trouble, pain in loins and lower abdomen, gall stones, gravel, rheumatism, sciatica and lumbago. 411 these derangements are nature's

Pretty Mrs. May Hull, Who Was Relieved of a Severe Case of Stomach Trouble, Which Undermined Her Entire Constitution, by Pepgen.
According to Mrs. May Hull, who lives at 923 Sixth avenue Des Moines, Iowa, work In her ten-room house is now like mere play. Few men folks understand what' this means! They can't realize the many steps a woman takes and the million other things she does to keep their homes cozy and clean. Only women know the true meaning of "housework" and the physical strength It takes to make them enjoy it. Perhaps no testimony yet told demonstrates the full value of Pepgen any more than the interesting story Mrs. Hull tells. She says: "Catarrh of the head caused me a great deal of suffering. I generally got out of bed in the mornings with a bad taste in my mouth and dizzy headaches. I had no appetite for breakfast. I was nervous and everything seemed to upset me.
Pepgen's Success in Muncie Amazing; Mrs. Miller Relates How Ii Helped Her Husband
"Pepgen's success In Muncie has been amazing." Hundreds of people including merchants, manufacturers, professional men, the highest class of mechanics, laborers, and railroad men, as' well as innumerable women have told what it has done for them. "Mrs. Wm. A. Miller, 1115 East Seymour street, says: "'My husband, who works for the Big Four Railway, was frequently troubled with cramps after eating. He had to be very careful what he ate. He took a great many kinds of medicines but nothing seemed to help him much. Finally he tried Pepgen and that went right to the spot. He hasn't been troubled since he took the first few doses. Beside he has a better appeUte and nothing he eaU hurts him.
The high cost of Irving Is a serious problem to most people these days. The hearty eater is compelled to pay big to satisfy his appetite but he ia much better off than the nervous dyspeptic, who unwillingly saves money at the expense of his physical strength. A large appetite may be expensive but there Is nothing that brings such tremendous dividends. "Nobody , knows the absolute correctness of this statement any better than W. M. Cannon, barber, 19 South Sixth street, Richmond, who having been relieved of stomach trouble by Pepgen which he obtained from Thlstlethwaite's drug store, gives it the stamp of his approval. "I think I had all the miseries that a disordered stomach is capable of causing," says Mr. Cannon. "I didn't eat very much and even what litUe I did eat caused gas to form which sometimes pressed up against my

We have a ten-room house and I feel so much stronger that my housework is mere play, whore before it seemed as if I could never get through. I feel that I cannot praise Pepgen too highly." . In scores of cases Pepgen has been the means of relieving women, because it gives strength and tone to the system. EIGHTH STREET WOMAN PASSES GOOD OPINION Mrs. Millicent Robertson Says "I Suffered with Indigestion for One Year; Pepgen Relieved.'' "Did you ever sit down to the table and feel hungry and yet you. was afraid to eat because you know you would suffer afterwards?" says Mrs. Millicent Robertson, 122 South Eighth St., Richmond. "Well, that was my condition when I started to taking Pepgen. My appetite was good but for over a year I have pot been able to eat one single meal in comfort. "My stomach bothered me so much and made ne so nervous that I was discouraged. My food caused me to bloat and feel stuffy. Heartburn often added to my discomfort. "Pepgen gave me quick relief. It is positively the best medicine I ever took. It goes right to the spot. I never intend to be without a bottle of it in the house. It is such a good tonic that I am recommending it to all of my friends." 11TH ST. MAN IS RELIEVED Mrs. Allinder Tells How Pepgen Helped Brother of Rheumatism. It is not claimed that Pepgen is a "cure-all" but years of experience have had a tremendous influence in the making of a compound which tones the general system and by its strength giving properties assists Nature to eliminate many diseases. Its effects in rheumatism are well told by Mrs. Allinder, 610 South 11th St., Richmond, who saw it work in her brother's case. , She says, "My brother suffered with muscular rheumatism, in his back. There were times when he could hardly move. He tried medicine after medicine to get relief. Sometimes he would get a little better but if he caught a slight cold or the weather changed suddenly, has trouble would come right back on him. "Several weeks ago he started to using Pepgen which he obtained at Thlstlethwaite's drug store and it is easy for any person to see how it has helped him. It has given him more relief than anything he ever used before. My brother is a great deal more active. I haven't heard him say a word about his rheumatism lately. "I have started to take Pepgen myself." TERRE HAUTE'S CITIZENS VERY ENTHUSIASTIC Railroad' Foreman's Story a Good Example of What People ' Are Saying. "I am satisfied from my own experience that Pepgen is as good a kidney remedy as can be obtained," says W. Fisher, 620 North 12th Street, Terre Haute. Mr. Fisher is foreman of the boiler making department of the Terre Haute South Eastern Ry. For 25 years he was in the employ of the VandaHa Line. He is 57 years of age, but says since he has been taking Pepgen that he does not feel a day older than he did ten years ago. Those who know Mr. Fisher know that his word is as good as his bond and that he would not recommend Pepgen if he was not sure that it was worthy of every good thing he could say about it. Continuing, he says: "I suffered considerably with kidney trouble and had many symptoms which every kidney suffered knows, namely backache, poor appetite, tired, draggy feeling and dizzy spells. "I took Pepgen. It relieved me and for that reason I am glad and willing to recommend it." Try Pepgen for dizziness, indigestion, backache, sour stomach, constipation, nervousness and other symptome caused by disordered stomach, kidneys and liver.
