PEORIA WANTS LEAGUE GAMES NEXTJUMMER Illinois Boosters Arouse Interest in Old Central League Cities.
PEORIA, 111.. Jan. 24. If an early start will bring results, the baseball booster committee, authorized by Fans' association stockholder In annual session last night, will hare Peoria back in the game In a short time. The resolution authorizing the committee had no sooner passed than suggestions were coming from a couple of dozen stockholder, and the baseball situation In no less than a dozen cities will be Investigated In a short time. President Ryan, aa chairman of the committee, will name his assistants within the next couple of days. He was busy today, however, lining up various circuits to be built on the foundation which will be furnished by his crew of boosters and Investigators. Outline Possible Leagues. ' "We will outline two or three possible leagues," said Mr. Ryan today. "We already have from two to five cities Available for each of them. It v.-Ill be up to the committee to go out and stir up interest In the other cities, then we can outline the one most compact, made up of the best cities and where the interest is the highest." President Ryan said the work of his committee might be started in this territory. Springfield, 111., is one city Peoria fans would like to see back in baseball, and it is possible Mr. Ryan will send a detail of men to the capital at an early date to show the fans there how easy it would be to form a fans' association and operate baseball along the same lines it is made a success in this city. ' Need Right Leadjers. With the right men behind the club In Springfield the game would come back stronger than ever, is the belief In Peoria. Then if that city would show Elena of returning to baseball, Decatur might also Jump Into the band wagon, giving Illinois four cities, Peoria, Bloomlngton, Springfield and Decatur as a starter. . There will be no work for the com
mittee in Terre Haute, for Rufus Gilbert has already lined up the situation. Evansville may demand a little attention, but with such a circuit as the one outlined above it is believed the owners will jump at a chance to get back into the game. Real Work for Boosters. , The committee's work, then, will be narrowed down to securing two more cities, or four perhaps, if Springleld and Decatur refuse to come through. There Is a vast amount of territory open from which to complete the circuit.
. springncia ana uayion, u., are suu available. South Bend, Fort Wayne unci Rlclim nd, Ind., are possibilities, (iiatid Kaf ids i3 ready to go, and the committee can drop down into northern Illinois, and look into the situation in Rockford, Rock Island and Moline if necessary.

The Twlgg Quakers are expected to go to the National Bowling Congress at Toledo in February. With some
of the scores already rolled in this city the team is expected to be high In the money. About 800 games are already rolled up to date In the local tourney which closes Saturday night. An extra prize of $15 will be given to the two man team "that breaks King and Bennett's record of 1,359 pins. Prizes totaling over $100 -will be given in this tournament.

PLAYING AT SWEETHEARTS Janet had come home from a hard day at the office. Walt had had as trying a day at his. They were, in addition, still going through the nervous tension of the first adjustments of marriage. To Janet it seemed all the stress of life were due to marriage. She felt tired. Walt looked it, as they met at a little French restau-. rant for dinner. "Oh, Walt, if we could forget we're married!" Janet exclaimed In a low tone. "If we could only be sweethearts again!" Walt winced. He knew that it was not their marriage that was oppressing Janet. Better at analysis than she, be knew that little bad passed from them, if anything, since the time when they were most in love with each other. It hurt him to have her think even in a mood of weariness that their marriage was less beautiful a state than their courtship days. Courtship days? It would always be courtship days with them, and the marriage ceremony the easiest thing in the world to forget. He would prove it to her! "Miss Thayer," he said, leaning a little over the table toward her. "Miss Thayer, although this is the very first time we've met, I feel already as though I had known you all my life. Just think of It! An hour ago there was I, a stranger In Parts, haunting the American legation for a sight of a face from home. Then you came, as much alone in Paris as I. The consul speaks a few words of introduction, and lo! you and I together in this little cafe, In the heart of the Latin, quarter, chatting and as much at home with each other as though " "As though we'd just met!" said Janet, her face brightening. "You know well enough that you're interested only because I'm still new to you. You know that it is the things you don't know about me that attract you. And being interested you are attentive; and being attentive, you feel at home with me." . "I know no such thing," Walt protested. "I'm sure that the more I know, you the more I shall like you, as I'm sure that you've got the prettiest eyes of blue and the funniest little play to your mouth corners I ever saw in my life!" "And I'm sure I shan't be able to rest until I've found out whether I can flatten out that foolish cowlick in your hair!" she rejoined gayly, all her depression of a few moments ago now gone. She found the game exhilarating, magical, as though some one had waved a wand over life and transformed it with a whisk to her heart's wish. They made wonderful progress with each other. Their good spirits and
their oblivion to all but themselves, their outburst of gay laughter. Waifs bold wooing and Janet's ready response, soon attracted the attention of their neighbors. Smiles and nudges passed among the diners. A fat, jovial little Frenchman, dining two tables away with his equally fat. jovial and little Frenchwoman wife, clinked glasses with her, saying as he nodded in the direction of Janet and Walt: "Some day they marry, those two. We will drink to their happiness!" When the tables were cleared and dancing began, Walt and Janet were the first to begin dancing, the last to leave off. They afterward rode up on top of a Riverside bus, only It was Paris and not New York they saw
from their seat. They walked for
miles along what they took for the Seine, though the maps called it the Hudson. But they were hot going by what
calendars, maps or marriage records
said. They had just met and with them It was love at first sight.' About
them wras the city they had .always
dreamed of visiting. Ahead of them was the future, fraught with promise, alluring with opening vistas of joy, thrilling with prospects of life life, full and deep and vibrant with feeling.
In the small hours of the morning
they reached their flat. "It's been a wonderful, beautiful evening we've had together, Mr. Stedman," Janet said, as Walt opened the door of .their apartment.
"And there are still more beautiful
times ahead of us together, Miss Thayer," said Walt, kissing her. (To be continued.)

DAILY HEALTH TALKS Better be Careful About. Your
Kidneys BY N. B. COOK, M. D.1 Poods taken into the stomach co through
various chemical changes, and some of these changes are poisons that must be sifted out and disposed of. It is the duty of the kidneys to do this. When the kid
neys do not fully perform their vital wors, death mav be onlv a few hours away.
Happily, Nature has provided warning
alarms telling people wnen tneir moneys are not well. These warnings come in the form of dragging pains in the small of the back, weak stomach, low spirits, chills, nausea, headache, scanty urine and frequent desire to pass it, short breath, numbness, cramps, coated tongue, bad breath, puffs under the eyes, thin blood, dry skin, ringing in the ears, spots before the eyes and many other symptoms. All come from the one cause of kidneys that are not filtering the poisons out of the system. To overcome these troubles. Dr. Pierce, of Buffalo, N. Y., compounded what he calls Anuric Tablets. No other kidney medicine is its equal in giving rdief and reestablishing healthful work in the kidneys. The treatment is very simple, as you need nothing except water when taking Anuric Tablets a glass of water with each tablet. This washes and flushes the kidneys while the medicine itself is dissolving the uric acid poisons and driving them out. Anuric Tablets are made double strength, so that they dissolve uric acid the same as hot water dissolves salt or sugar. Most people need Anuric Tablets because most people have uric acid. Better get that poison out of your body for safety's sake, and better begin today. To gently and agreeably coax the bowels back into normal activity, take Dr. Pierce's Pleasant Pellets. They are just as good for costiveness as his Anuric Tablets are good for kidney disorders, and that i3 saying a preat deal.
At last a real remedy for rheumatism! And a good one it must be when good druggists everywhere sell it on the no-cure no-pay basis. Rheumatics should hail the news with great rejoicing, for it is surely a remarkable remedy and has a record of almost unbelievable cures. Read what J. F. Oliver of Albany, Ga., says about it: "I had sciatic rheumatism for two years, and tried every medicine offered for rheumatism. Tried many doctors, was treated at one of the best Southern sanatoriums, and if I improved anv I did not rpHz it. T nm a win.
