Union City Man Froves , Successful Stock Raiser WINCHESTER, Ind., Dec. 19 Clifford C. Fisher of Union City has made a great record as a cattle man. He is using a scientific method of feeding cattle on his farm in Wayne township, and has had wonderful results. In the recent stock show held in Chicago, he took a car load of 23 head and culled them to 15 head, when he arrived, the 8 head being sold on the market for 20c a pound, which was an unusually good price for cattle on foot. The cattle exhibited were of the Hereford stock, they were sold at 25 cents per pound, bringing $4176.35 or $278.42 per head. The funeral of Mary Potter, 16, who died at Muncie Monday, was held here today with burial at Fountain park. Her parents were born and reared here, her father being John O. Potter, a civil engineer, who died several years ago George L. Pierce of Indianapolis was brought here Monday by Sheriff Davisson. He had been endicted by the recent grand jury for fraud. He was arrested in Cincinnati. ....The Red Cross membership drive began here Monday morning. The solicitors are meeting with good success, most every one responding with the membership fee of one dollar, and some new names added. The "Flu" situation remains about the same as it has been for several days. The Relief committee is doing

The funeral was held Tuesday at Spartanburg. He had been employed by the J. A. Long Co. Bernice. the 5-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Hurst, who died of Influenza, was buried Monday afternoon at Maxwell, six miles west of here. She was a granddaughter of county commissioner, John Chessman. ....John Lacey while delivering groceries in an auto truck for the, James A. Johnson grocery, collided with another machine driven by O. R. Botkin on Meridian street Tuesday afternoon. The delivery truck lost a wheel, but the Botkin machine only suffered a smashed fender. .. .Miss Ethel Engle, substitute rural route carrier met with an accident on rural route 6, when the machine she was driving left the road and ran into a fence and overturned. Miss Engle was uninjured. The accident wa3 caused by a defective rod. ....Word was received yesterday by Mr. and Mrs. Ed Botkin of Farmland that their son Chauncey had been killed in action in France. Nothing had been heard from him by his parents for several weeks. He had been in the Army about a year and In France since June. He was 21 years of age.

Deaths and Funerals. Brown The funeral of Miss Alma Brown was held this afternoon at four o'clock from Klute and Smith undertaking parlors. Rev. F. W. Rohlflng had charge of the services and burial was in Earlham cemetery. Barnett Josiah W. Barnett, 73 years old, died Wednesday at his home in Centerville. He was born in Ohio, but has lived in this community for many years. He is survived by his widow, two sons, James and Charles, two daughters, Mary, and Mrs. Flora Hamilton, three sisters, Mrs. Susie Jones of this city, Mrs. Allie Sburman of New Paris, Mrs. Alpha Ammerman of Dayton, and three brothers, Thomas, John and William. "Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock from the parlors of Wilson, Pohlmeyer and Downing. Rev. J. S. Hill will have charge of the services. Burial will be in New Paris. Friends may call at any time.
Fire Company Called to Put Oat Fire Near Tanks
